Have a look at some of the Australian graphic design magazines, Apple advertises the G5 there (I would assume they are trying to get their existing customers to upgrade).
I can only assume that Apple's Australian customer base (not market share) is quite small, so some ventures will not be economically viable for them as they are in the US which would have a larger customer base naturally.
Yes if they want a bigger customer base, they should broadly advertise more... I wonder what are they doing here to get NEW customers?
Are there any other companies down under that offer the features you speak of that Apple does not? And are you able to use them with your Mac? If there is at least one Yes answer there, then you are whining a little... not that thats a bad thing
