i wondered where these guys came from too and why this song hey ya was so popular, so i bought it and now play it alot. it sounds almost like "devo rap" lol
Outkast is just pure good old...but growing with times...hip/hop. Check out Stankonia (Mrs. Jackson; So Fresh, So Clean; B.O.B), ATLiens (ATLien), Aquemini (Rosa Parks)...All of the songs are good on all of these CDs. In my opinion they are true innovative hip/hop. They are always ahead of the game, never recreating somthing or remixing some over used beat like some of todays new artists. I think one of the most interesting things about them is their style because you never know whats going to be on the next CD. I also wouldn't say that Big Boi has no rhythm and is off beat because he isn't and if he is I can almost guarantee (don't know exactly how) that he did it on purpose. If you are interested in going ever further back check out Southernplayalisticadillacmuzic...very old school
So let me get this straight, Outkast are 2 guys who do their own things, and then release it as an Outkast album, where half the songs are the Hey Ya guy, and the other half is rap?
ajprice you're in the UK according to your tag? I don't mean to be rude but did you have your head in a bucket when Miss Jackson was being played to death on the radio?
"I'm sorry Miss Jackson, I am for real. Never meant to make your daughter cry, I apologise a trillion times"
I think Big Boi is responsible for a fair bit of the production? But it's true Andre 3000 is a great talent but some of you guys talk about Big Boi as if he's been holding OutKast back?

Yes I know the Miss Jackson song, and I hated it, I never hung around a radio for long enough to find out the name of the band who did it.
nicely done
