Based on another one of your recent threads, I'd say it looks like you're trying too hard to make Mac OS X act like Mac OS 9. This is a mistake that many "luddites" make that invariably makes the transition much more difficult and confusing than it should be.
Mac OS X is a major evolution of the Classic system. A lot of things act the same; a lot of things are different. If you aren't willing to jump in feet-first and start embracing these changes, you might as well stick with your aging hardware and Mac OS 9.
Im trying, but I cant be the only one who thinks the interface of OSX is just not an improvement.
OK, I set finder to open in new windows, but I dont see anything marked toolbar in the finder preferences.I see 'sidebar'. is this what you mean? Do I turn off everything including hard disk?
Toolbars in MacOS X are all managed by the oblong lozenge in the top right of the window. Click that to toggle the toolbar across the top of any window, including the Finder windows.
You might do well to peruse the Mac Help. It's quite useful.
Also, a book such as The Missing MacOS X Manual might help you get up to speed a lot. There's also a book specifically for those migrating from OS9, but I can't recall the title off the top of my head. It should show you exactly how to set up MacOS X to work as much like 9 as possible. Why you'd want to do that, I'm not entirely sure, but it's quite doable.

I would want to do that because I figured out how to use McOS9 by myself, without a manual or confusion. If you remember the name of that migration book please let me know. Im getting a headache!
can we start a forum for steve666 alone so he quits making so many threads about his so called trouble with OSX.
Sorry dude, it's getting old.
Im trying to learn something new. Everyone here has been very helpful. I have helped people with OS9 and other issues since Ive been a member here for years. It would be much easier to not read the thread started by me then to post an obnoxious reply.
While we're all glad we can help, perhaps specific questions are best posted to Genius Bar in the future? Usually that's considered better than derailing established threads.

Column view: huge improvement as an option
Sidebar: eh. Not perfect.
etc.

Maybe not, but drag and drop installations still work just fine.

the thing i've found that makes os x much more like os 9, is not having the toolbar, and having everything open up in a new window
