The Child's Play ad does that with a more emotional appeal.

Plus the production quality is excellent.

CBS will probably deny the ad from running in the SuperBowl because the ad does not meet their 'standards'.

Obviously, CBS is still too busy sucking the GOP's dick since the "Reagan" rollover! Standards and practices? So, selling beer with near naked ladies and white house sponsored anti-drug ads comparing pot smokers to terrorists can get passed CBS' "standards and practices", but if liberals want to place an ad -- FVCK YOU!

    Got it.

When will we learn that whining about "how much the Republicans are messing everything up) and rolling out the "poor children" takes will not get us back into office. America is tired of whiners. We need a candidate and an approach that moves with strength, dignity and action. I think that many who once supported the Democratic party feel alienated.

I think you're 100% wrong here. This ad is great. George Bush is robbing America's future to pay for a party for his friends today. This ad drives that point home with excellent visuals, and no hystrionics.

What Bush and the GOP have done to the Federal budget should be a Federal crime.

Technically this ad could not be a "go go democrats" ad because that might violate the campaign finance laws. The new laws make it easier for third parties to attack one candidate or another, but make it a political morass for those organizations to endorse one candidate or another.

Although CBS has blocked the winning moveon.org ad. from a superbowl airing, they will feature a White House sponsored ad. (CBS execs probably dont want to end up on the "no-fly" list....)

    {!}

Don't you just love the liberal media....

Well, at least the best ad won. It doesn't pander or go for cheap shock appeal, doesn't pull on any maudlin heartstrings, isn't too angry or defensive, and isn't condescending. It's a very dry, witty, understated but clear and serious ad. Some of the others were obnoxious. I'm glad that one won. Gives me hope that not all has been lost.

It's unfortunate that CBS won't air the ad, but it's their prerogative. The ad isn't inflammatory in any way that I can discern, it's just fact. I'll bet if the creator had changed the verbiage from "President Bush's $1 trillion deficit" to "Our $1 trillion deficit" it'd probably be allowed...

No, it's an overtly political ad even with your proposed change. Damn shame they won't air it . Although I appreciate your reasonable assessment of the ad.

CNN will air the ad 30 times between Jan. 17-21.

I peeked on the O'Reilly show last night... in between comments slamming moveon he actaully said the ad had a point and that it was not offfensive at all. In between his spin... he stopped rotating and made a true statement.

So the anti-smoking ads aren't 'issue' ads? What about the anti-drug/terrorism ones?

    ^ exactly.

those anti-drug ads last year claiming an individual's choice to use drugs equates to supporting terrorism was one of the most overtly political ad campaigns I can ever remember seeing.

Since the moveon entrant has brought so much ridicule I thought I would post this article...

Has the RNC EVER complained about any of this?

    http://conwebwatch.tripod.com/storie...zicompare.html

Now, let's move on to lesser ConWeb lights, in that they managed to limit their liberal-Nazi comparisons to a single article:

"Clinton was invoking the Nazi practice of Sippenhaft, in which the relatives of those who opposed Hitler were punished. This vengeful notion holds that the accused person's family is tainted with 'blood guilt.'"

    -- David C. Stolinsky, NewsMax, Nov. 9, 2001

"Tranzi stands for Transnational Progressive ... They propose abolishing nations and replacing them with a single, global government. ... The word 'Tranzi' nicely evokes the ideology it represents. It has a nasty, sneaky sound, like Commie or Nazi."

    -- Richard Poe, NewsMax, Aug. 30, 2002

"There have been dozens of examples of the Clinton administration using Nazi-style police tactics against government whistleblowers."

    -- Carl Limbacher, NewsMax, Sept. 2, 1999

"There is a Web site mistakenly called democrats.com (it should be .con) - run by a gaggle of Marxist thugs who could have taught Nazi propaganda minister Joseph Goebbels a thing or two about political slander."

    -- Phil Brennan, NewsMax, Aug. 21, 2001

"The political adviser responsible for making Al Gore a two-term vice president (Dick Morris) said Thursday night the veep is in a state of denial about his impending White House loss, comparing him to "Hitler in the bunker." Then he quickly withdrew the analogy to the World War II dictator."

    -- NewsMax story, Dec. 7, 2000

Check the article... there's many more doozies.
