Same here. Sometimes television captures something far better than words can. For instance, the falling of the twin towers, or perhaps big events such as a state of the union address, presidential inauguration, or big sporting events.
(I bet you've never met any 18 year old guys who listen to NPR ).
I've listened to NPR since I was 15. I always got a laugh when I was leaving school, listening to everyone crank up their music, and I'd tune into Fresh Air.

Me too! I listen to all types of music too, I'm not an exclusive talk radio listener, but I get a kick out of all of my friends who crank up the rock/rap/[insert crappy music here] and I get in my car and turn on the classical.
When I was in...7th or 8th grade I realized how dumb and pathetic the radio was, and boycotted it from my life, later that year I discovered NPR/KCRW and it became the only radio station I'd listen to. Good stuff there
i'm generally uninformed about news (for example: i didn't know about the smoke ban in new york city [a place i've lived my whole life], until i was told to put out my cigarette). i watch the daily show with fair regularity, but most of it is in one ear and out the other. when i wake up, sometimes someone has 'today' on nbc on, so i hear some of the fluff news. i don't regularly read, watch or listen to any kind of legitimate news agency. well, i do read /. a lot, but i skip over anything that doesn't immediately tickly my tech interests. and i go to ao pretty often, but i generally try to step over any of the real issues. fark too, but again, skipping anything non-boobie or non-hilarious (or non-boobaliciously-hilarious).
i don't vote, so i don't care about other people's opinions.

Ah, guys like you are rare. I'm 18 and I listen to NPR, but mostly This American Life and Car Talk. I'm not a big fan of their news shows. Overall, I get my news from the New York Times and the Daily Show (when I watch tv, which is almost never now). College is a total bubble, so when I don't snatch a NYT, I have no idea that life exists off campus.
I don't watch TV, especially for news. (Rent movies only).
I get most of my news from the Wall Street Journal and foxnews.com, *conservative light flashes on forehead* with a quick check of Yahoo!'s top stories, drudge (sometimes) and a couple of localish papers online. I am also forced to listen to NPR from time to time until I look at my husband in great disgust and ask him HOW he can listen to it. Something about keeping up with the opposition. But then my husband is my other great source of news. Seems anytime I find out something interesting has happened, he knew about it two days before. So I'm not the best informed person in the world--not as far as current events go.
Now, ask me about how much Return of the King has grossed since opening, that's another story.
Yeah... compositor/editor for the design department. Because I work here I generally don't pay much attention to what's going on in the news..... I can only take so much.
yeah? how come the graphics for CNN suck so bad. paula zahn now? that logo has NO creativity whatsoever....boring...

New York shows have their own graphics department in New York. I don't know who designed it.
