There are also the VoodooPC systems. Their site says they are capable of at least 3 hours of usage on battery running real world applications. This is quite amazing if we think that today's Powerbooks are in the same range of battery life, with a much less powerful processor. Of course there is this 8 pounds weight...

um ok.... well, i'll make a fire right here, on top of a table, then feel the air below it and above it... winner-take-all

in all seriousness about the xserve. ok, maybe its bigger than it looks, but its still a heck of a lot smaller than the g5 towers (i still havent grown accustomed to their "hugeness"). anyways, it was jsut as a reference to the fact that apple has made headway in the size dept. thats all...

gosh... my emac seems to be warm on top, yet my desk is room temp...

edit: ok i see what youre talking about now (my physics background finally clicked in). you knew what i meant.

    Ipodandimac,

I knew, you knew, if you know what I mean?I just thought some kids might be reading and I did not want them to get the wrong idea.

You make the fire and let me know how it works out. I could use the heat though, it has been ? 30 C here all week.

hmm... to get back on topic, how many people are waiting for the next pbooks to buy one, and how long have you been waiting? i've been waiting since august to get my g5 (first i was gonna wait for panther, but the i thought i might as well wait for a rev.)

    Ipodandimac,

I have been waiting for a couple of months now. I sold my G4 800 PowerBook in hopes of picking up a new model, a second rev 15? with a minor speed bump sans problems, after MacWorld SF?DOH! In the meantime, I have been using my 17? imac and the lack of dual display is driving me nuts.
