There is nothing generic about the iPod, years of development and R&D make for a pretty specific set of features and design. Product dilution, copyright infringement? In any case, IT IS A RIP OFF of the DESIGN of Apple's iPod.
Actually Apple created the iPod in record time. It was a crash program of less then a year. ( I seem to remember a quote of 8 months). In order to get it out they used a lot off the shelf components including software such as PortalPlayer. In the end they simply put the pieces together better then anybody else.
And yes, of course, one could burn their Beatles CD to a player.
It looks like it can record. How freakin long is going to take for Apple to add recording to the iPod. The Griffin mic records at 8khz. 44.1khz direct to AAC would be sweet. I'd buy a new iPod just for that.
Actually, it screams 'iPod' and has the patent pending and instantly recognizeable scroll wheel. I think it infringes
Like MacsRGood4U said, Apple has a pending patent on the iPod mini's scroll wheel, NOT the standard iPod scroll wheels which this is similar to (except it has 6 buttons around the side, not four).
Messiahtosh, this only reason this MP3 player looks more like the iPod that other designs is the scroll wheel. The design OBVIOUSLY isn't as good as the iPod... it screams "design a generic inside, then spice up the outside" rather than "design the whole unit around the user" Apple design.

Your are jumping at shadows.

Apple already has the older iPod scroll wheel patented. In a world such as this, sometimes you have to be harsh, and Apple should be. Jump down the ****ers throats and sue the **** out of them for brand dilution, copyright infringement etc etc...You know what, Microsoft is successful with it's business practices, Apple wants to control an industry as much as Microsoft controls the OS industry...If Apple really wants it then the rich will have to get richer, screw the little guys, nobody gives a shit about them anyway. If anyone knows about that, as Apple users, we do.

The whole thing is, to quote the CBC news anchor, ****ed.

This is a blantent shot at Apple, look at their photos...
OMFG!! Apple was the FIRST company EVAR to place products next to each other in a circular fashion for ad shots.
It's a good thing they used that blue gradient for a background instead of white. I just might have accidentally ordered one if not for that tip off.

No, Apple has a patent pending on the iPod mini's button-under-wheel design, the current iPod's already have their design's patented.
