Another reason AOL might seem to load images faster is because by default AOL's browser is set up to compress images while they load. THis is done on the fly as a page is loading. Check to see if this is enabled by going to AOL Menu -> Preferences -> WWW (icon) -> Display (Tab)
Under that tab there is a check box for "User compressed images (pages load faster)"
If that is checked then it would explain why pages load faster.
I may have to use graphic converter if i switch to another ISP because i just tested some older AOL pics and Preview wont open them. I used the control-click method and I chose to open with AOL nd it worked. If AOL isnt on my mahine then all the JPGs I have downloaded with AOL wont open without AOL installed on the omputer.
You are correct that images are compressed in AOL. Too bad other browsers dont give that option, although I thought IE did.
I am most definitely considering another ISP but it would be nice if i could save some money at the same time. I wonder how the Netzero service is for the Mac at $14.95. The other best option at no real savings would be Earthlink since they are Mac friendly.
