These are some great portraits that come to mind off the bat, note that there are some sculpures in here but Ron Mueck's stuff is just so weird and strong . . .

or the sculptor Ron Mueck . . . his sculptures are gigantic and are really disconcerting
then for "Cultuh" you can add the famous and once infamous Madam X by John Singer Sargent
And the notorious and much loved L'Origine du Monde by Courbet is always a winner.
I was going to post that one but thought the Freud would do unstead . . . its a great painting, I have a picture of myself scrutinizing it in person (and up close of course) at the Orangerie (I think that was where it is . . )
a note: it used to be owned by Jacques Lacan . . . . if you know Lacan then its kind of an inside joke . . .
