I think that as a standalone browser, firefox kicks ass, but I am having problems installing extensions - crashes every time! So my customized browsing experience is lacking for the last 24 hours.
I'm just waiting for the version that will allow me to use my Russian thought-control helmet. Oh, and will this fire high-speed air-to-air missiles backwards?
By the way, the Adblock plugin that Brad told me about works fine, just as easy as PithHelmet. Now I can use it to block those stupid smokey smileys that Nebagakid always puts everywhere
Anyone else using Jaguar? When installing extensions Firefox crashes every time. Is this is the first Panther only 'Zilla?
I'm having the same issue. However, the app does seem to get the extension installed properly, as it works once you relaunch the app. Just a minor bug, I'd say.
Anyone use it and have opinions? I've been trying to download it but haven't been able to from their server. Anyone know another place to try?
With Firefox you can actually read station letters in the station column on TV Guide listings. That's not possible with any other browser, including Safari, in my experience.

Firefox is good, but it is no better than the latest Mozilla. For the TV Guide site, the best display is courtesy iCab with Internet Explorer a close second. Gecko-based Camino, Mozilla, and Firefox are tied for third. WebCore-based Safari and OmniWeb are tied for sixth. Opera comes in dead last. The varying qualities of the displays rendered by these browsers is likely not so much a reflection of the quality of each browser as it is a consequence of webmasters targeting particular browsers rather than HTML standards.
Go to the preferences, extentions, then click the link to get new extensions. You can download one called AdBlock that is really good at blocking ads. Either right-click on an ad you want to block, or just click a button in the lower left corner, and you'll be able to add filters that include wild cards. It works awesome for me - I can block *tribalfusion* and *doubleclick* and the wild cards make sure that nothing containing either of those words gets through. If you see an ad, just right-click it and you should be able to block it. If it's one of those flash ads that doesn't give you the normal contextual menu, use the link in the corner to block it.

Thanks. It works great. But how do I UNblock something? I accidently blocked the AppleInsider graphic at the top of the page. Any ideas?
I've been using firefox for a couple hours and it's definitely faster than Safari in many areas. The Adblock extension rocks, too. Too bad it STILL looks like complete ass. I wish it looked like Safari (text and widget rendering, etc) but acted like Firefox. That would be the best of all worlds. It even renders a lot of CSS right that Safari doesn't (custom widgets, input field coloring - maybe that yellow text field on focus CSS wasn't such a good idea for my site.... ).
It's nice to see some progress on the browser front.

So far, it's the fastest browser on Windows. Being derived from Mozilla, you would think the speed would be the same, but it's faster.
I guess when you strip away everything but the browser, you realize some speed.

I had some trouble with this too. Here's how you do it:
Tools menu -> Adblock -> Preferences -> Right click on the filter you want to delete and select delete.
Unfortunately, it's fairly un-Mac-like in that you can't delete it without right clicking or control clicking. But it works.
