yes Napster does have an agreement like this, but i believe that the 9.99/month is just included in student's student fees or something like that. This only covers streaming not downloading.

I think apple will catch up if they can get iTunes standard on more and more machines. The HP deal is a great start.

Imagine a deal with dell... Ok i don't think hell can freeze over again in such a short time

Just some local but relevant news to this topic. I bought an Apple $15 iTMS prepaid gift card, the Napster cards were next to the iTMS ones, they were full, iTMS's were almost gone.

The real question could or should be, are "Copyrights" a thing of the past in the digital age?

Or perhaps how many people respect or adhere to copyright protection of Artists?

I do, and other than the iToons, or the sorts, File sharing of "circle C" material is just bad... That goes for music, photos, software, ect, ect...

From your perspective it is bad. Filesharers feel differently in some cases. In the case of music many of us are tired of the clear channel infested radio stations of the US. We're tired of not being exposed to artists who do it for the "Art".

The manipulation of Artists is absolutely horrendous. Many lose their "rights" to their original songs. They lose publishing and so much other. All for the right to have their music "distributed". It's time for a change. Industries based around the distribution of content that can be digitized are in trouble. I don't feel sorry for the music industry at all. I pay $13-17 for a CD because I must subside 9 failing artist for every 10 signed. People are fed up with the shenanigans and Music Industry doublespeak. Yes I will continue to download and support the artists who I feel are furthering their art. The Money Hungry posers will be deleted and forgotten.
