Combine that with VTech and I can see why they are not shipping customer orders... Gotta get the big paying peoples out the door first! I bet they had such a large number of orders that there was no way they could possibly produce them all at once... Gotta love it!
I guess by production work , they don't mean rendering? Either way, this still probably means a good order of G5s.
Did you not see the original G5 video that had RenderMan running on G5's? That guy said that the whole industry would be using it shortly. Take one look at what Virginia Tech built, and tell me you can build a better faster render-wall for less using anything else? You think 2200 intel Xeons can render better faster than 2200 G5's. I don't. Not after looking at where VT & the BIgMac stand on the supercomputer list, and how it performs compared to 2200 intel Xeons. I think the G5 is probably the ultimate unofficially known rendering machine. Who knows. I wouldn't doubt it if Pixar built one already. I have no hard facts, but I guess we could get a glimpse of something from NAB.
