THe article states that the Pentagon will be witholding 300$mill payments for overcharging on meal contracts . . . "substantial" over charging . . .. this will hurt Halliburton's subcontractors . . .

and la di da until we get hurt and our soldiers get hurt

this is privatization at work . . . just like deregulation and the evergy crisis and all the Tycos and Enrons . . . it is absurd absurd absurd!!!

    From the article:

    Quote:

The Pentagon plans to withhold about $300 million in payments to Halliburton Co. because of possible overcharging for meals served to troops in Iraq and Kuwait, defense officials said Wednesday.

Starting next month, the Defense Department will begin withholding 15 percent of the money paid to Vice President Dick Cheney's former company on a multibillion-dollar contract to provide services such as food, housing, laundry and mail to American forces in Iraq.

    and this sums it up:
    Quote:

The possible overcharging for meals is just one of Halliburton's troubles with its work in Iraq and Kuwait. The work also includes a contract to rebuild the dilapidated oil industry in southern Iraq.

    Halliburton's other problems include:

-- Allegations of a kickback scheme by two former workers in Kuwait that prompted Halliburton to reimburse the Pentagon $6.3 million.

-- Faulty cost estimates on the $2.7 billion contract to serve troops in Iraq, including failing to tell the Pentagon that KBR fired two subcontractors. KBR admitted those mistakes in a letter to the Defense Contract Audit Agency.

-- A separate DCAA audit that accused KBR of overcharging by $61 million for gasoline delivered to serve the civilian market in Iraq last year. Halliburton has said the charges were proper.

I wonder . . . did this company got its model for *ehem* success from its former CEO?!?!

Pathetic stuff without a doubt. I can't wait to see the AO Bush fanatics begin to defend this.
