According to this forum Bell Sympatico is boosting its DSL speeds in Ontario in Quebec up to 2.5 Mbps. I haven't seen this announced anywhere officially and I don't know how reputable the site is (anyone?). That being said, the speed tests it suggests you do seem to show these speeds on my line.
I've been doing some downloading and I seem to be getting a pretty consistent 300+ Kb/sec rate.
I'm on Sympatico High Speed, and I noticed the other day that my upload cap was doubled to 80 KB/s.
Yes it is and Firewire is 400mbps or 800mbps depending on what you got. That isn't his network connection unless he has it network running through the firewire.
Right now I only have 1.5/256, but I'm looking at Sonic.net's 6000/608 package with 8(!) static IP's for $45/mo for the first year. I'm just glad I switched away from SBC.
Uhhh...nothing about XP and OS X are the same, except for all the stuff (read: everything) that MS copied (and poorly at that). OS X just rules, end of story.

Right click "My Network Places" (Either in My Computer or the start menu)
Right click whichever icon is the internet connection and click "Status"
(My connection is labeled '1394 Connection' under Network Bridge)

It might be similar on Mac, but in XP...

Isn't 1394 another name for Firewire?
