Does anyone else think that a soon to be released service pack will "break" both iTunes and the iPod?
Fortunately for us all, this is not the right legal climate for that.
MS really, seriously shot themselves in the foot by failing to even adhere to that toothless excuse for a consent decree that the DoJ sold out for. That judge is not going to give them the benefit of the doubt again, unless she's a complete pushover - and that's not her reputation.

Gosh I hope not.
I agree with Amorph on this one.
But all bets are off if MS starts playing "dirty pool".
The "sheriff" (such as there IS one) seems to be keeping MS relatively in line. Plus there is some theory (unfounded as near as I can tell, so far) that MS itself is changing because they realize they must behave less like a schoolyard bully...it is "unbecoming" of a "blue chip" company. We'll see. I'll believe it when I see it.
Are you Letterpress Opry or Becca Sutlive? Seriously, I've heard of neither. But IIRC, the Opry link in your sig was the first one I ever clicked-on at AI. I probably don't remember correctly though...

I believe he's in Letterpress Opry. Pretty cool, if you ask me.
i dont see itunes failing anytime soon. when i get newsletters from bands they always have links to itunes, not any of those other junk sites. there just seems to be so much support from the music industry, more so than the others. and, all those musicians use ipods. lately i have just seen a lot of support on the net and tv for itunes and ipod, but i never ever hear a thing about the other guys.
I wouldn't count MS out. With the clout they have, this battle is far from over.
By forcing all those companies to support WMA, it sets the "perception" that it is the de facto standard file format.
Once those who consider purchasing an iPod realize that it won't work with 4 out of 5 music services, they'll look elsewhere.
dont 4 out of 5 users use the 1 out of 4 music stores that isnt wma? and what about the people who have mega cd collections, and STILL buy cd's format doesnt matter, rip to what ya got

How about flipping the logic.
The 4 or 5 stores that only sell WMA files will fail because you can't play the files on the iPod.
Doesn't a consumer want to play their music on the number one player?
