Kerry calls Kerry "reckless", "irresponsible" and "abandon"s troops
Kerry is his own worse enemy. His attacks against himself are worse then anything a "republican attack squad" could get away with.
?Reckless? and ?Irresponsible??
So Kerry "abandon[ed] our troops" with his "irresponsible" vote to "cut and run" from Iraq "recklessly".
?Reckless? and ?Irresponsible??
Quote:
March 19? In an interview several weeks before he voted against $87 billion in funding for military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., seemed to argue that such a vote would be reckless, irresponsible, and tantamount to abandoning U.S. troops.
On the Sept. 14, 2003, edition of CBS's Face the Nation, Kerry spoke at length about an amendment he and Sen. Joe Biden, D-Del., were offering which would have paid for the $87 billion by delaying some of the recent tax cuts.
Asked if he would vote against the $87 billion if his amendment did not pass, Kerry said, "I don't think any United States senator is going to abandon our troops and recklessly leave Iraq to whatever follows as a result of simply cutting and running. That's irresponsible."

We are talking about politicians here and as such I expect this kind of thing.
I am not going to react one way or the other.

It is my goal that we will drop comments similar to this one here at AO.
I just do not enjoy reading tit for tat personal jabs directed from member to member. Addressing the issue if it is one of interest and explaining yourself is much more interesting and worthy.

There is no evidence that Kerry was willing to abandon the troops and that's what this thread is supposedly attempting to prove. This entire thread is simply a childish ad-hominem attack on Kerry as opposed to an attack and dissection of Kerry's ideals. No support is even given for the attack, just a quote and the attack.
The orginial post is practicly a complete fabrication. How can someone even respond?

I guess you found a way right?
Take a look at this...
Dear Senator Kerry
Even a supportive and very professional journalist complains that Kerry is fully of double-speak and running away from his own ideas. He should just embrace and defend them instead of trying to explain how he voted and did not vote on issues. Likewise if he would just leave ideological disagreements for what they are instead of demonizing the person, then others could not attempt to use his own negative words against him.

I didn't even need to guess who would jump in right after you said that!!!

Why would we take a look at that? It has nothing to do with the thread, which has no point and serves no purpose.
Want to start a thread about double-speak? Go right ahead.

You obviously aren't "getting it" then. Kerry claimed he couldn't/wouldn't vote against the $87 billion because it would harm the troops and the progress in Iraq. He obviously said this to have it both ways. He would be able to claim that he had "no choice" but the vote for the $87 billion since to not do so would be abandoning our troops and so forth. He then went against his own argument and voted against the $87 billion.
The rest of us, (you really don't have to be included if you don't want) call that double speak.
Definition of doubletalk/doublespeak to help you out.
Deliberately ambiguous or evasive language.
Do you doubt that what Scott posted from Kerry was anything but ambiguous or evasive? Shawn called it evasive. Why don't you complain about him and tell him to go start another thread.
Kerry is trying to have it both ways. He wants to be for and against the war and for and against the $87 billion. He should pick a position and take a stand. Which of course happens to be what my link from Mr. Cronkite mentions.

1. Trumpetman is right on his above post
2. This is why everybody should vote for Nader
3. Fellowship should change his name back to Fellowship Ibook.
