Being the divorced, single, unemployed, stay-at-home-blob that I am, I tend to listen to all sources of news that I can (quite unnaturally actually), CNN, Fox News, NPR (on rare occasions), few others at random.

Basically I see and hear it all and, as the saying goes, decide for myself.

Problem is that they are all grating and manipulative. All of them. I can't stand the tone of any of them.

What is even worse is that you can't criticize (or even cite) one of them without people assuming you are there for "pro" the opposite.

I can say FOX NEWS is biased and unfair and unbalanced without there being a subtext of being therefore pro CNN.

I can dislike CNN's coverage just as much and for different reasons and still be making valid points without therefore being pro FOX NEWS.

Too much polarization, too many agendas and too many people clutching to one or the other as the megaphones to out shout the otherguy.

I've been listening as often as I can online, and while it's certainly been a little rough around the edges at times as they work out the kinks, it's seemed pretty successful.

The Franken/Bebe Neuworth/Anne Coulter gag on Wednesday was hysterical, as was the Franken Limbaugh country song..."Myyyyy drugs are red, white and bluuuuuuuue." Easily as funny as the Limbaugh song parodies (which I usually like)

    Heh.

This chick Rhoads is hilarious. lol The Nader thing I have to say, was a little over the top...but it was highly entertaining to say the least.

"We can't afford you Ralph...I'm pissed at you"....

    Click.

You gotta be bloody joking. John and Ken are the biggest flakes and whiney crybabies on radio today. Love that extreme whiney-teenage-girl-yelling tone that automatically kicks in when they disagree with a caller or a news story.

I never said that someone couldn't whine, be a crybaby or anything else on talk radio. The point is even if I disagree with your characterization of John and Ken, the point is that there can be discussion of ideas (even if it is a whiney discussion) when the other side isn't racist, sexist, evil, homophonic, etc.

I listened to Ms. Rhoads today. I really do try to remain open to all new ideas and so I have given AirAmerica some of my time. (Especially since I am off for a month)

Today she played a song about Rush Limbaugh. Now I know the jokes about him being fat, a windbag and so forth. However this song called him among other things, a nazi, vomit, human waste, etc. Those are just a few of the names.

That is a far cry from declaring that Hillary is the co-president or something of that nature. I remember the outcry from some on here when Rush Limbaugh called Daschle "El Diablo" or something of that nature. He made it a nickname. Tom "El Diablo" Daschle. The point is this ONE NAME raised an eyebrow. People were saying it was moving beyond discussion in to hatred. Yet this one song was basically an ongoing name-calling litany of how Limbaugh is pure evil.

This network sure seems to be taking the lowest road possible awfully quick. It's making me want to turn into Tom Lykus or Howard Stern so I can hear some high minded ideas compared to what is being turned out here.

They didn't actually call him those things. No, they had Al Franken impersonating Limbaugh saying he was those things. Don't forget the bit about his ass being the size of Missouri.

It was certainly a lot more funny than you make it seem. A lot more funny.

Please, that's all they do. Whiney( annoyingly high pitch included)yelling like teenage girls.

Hard to take you seriously when you defend someone famous for doing the exact same things you're so up in arms about. Remember "Hitlery"? "Feminazi's"?

Come on. Now you're just whining.

The lowest road eh? Nice generalization. First you cry about Rhoads, now it's the whole network. How predictable. So tell me, have you heard Howard lately? I doubt you're gonna like what he has to say about the Bushies these days. Try Savage, now that may be a better fit for you.

Savage isn't a fit for me. I've never heard him, but I can tell you that I don't agree with being hateful even if the person acting that way happens to agree with me on a particular issue.

As for Stern, I didn't say a host had to agree with my political perspective to be good talk radio. What limited thinking you are displaying. Or perhaps you are just projecting your own unwillingness to hear divergent viewpoints onto me.

The point is Stern complaining about Bush and the FCC is highminded compared to Rhoads. I also noted several decidedly liberal people who do take the high road and are funny as hell at the same time. (Stewart and Maher)

As for Rush Limbaugh, you are 100% correct that he has given names like that. I haven't claimed he always takes the high road and even gave an example of his name calling. I'll say that I am not familiar enough with his program to know what percentage of the time is high versus low but I have heard him for a couple hours driving cross country and it seemed mostly high road to me.

But again even then with Limbaugh and the low road, it is like complaining about the occasional low brow humor. Everyone does it. Rhoads so far is two for two. Not only that but her hate is sprayed like a shotgun blast. Today it was Limbaugh, yesterday Nader. Rhoads is proving to be more like a Savage whom I think we can all agree goes past the occasional low brow joke into what I consider pretty much hatred.

I tried once. I tried real hard....30 minutes is all I could take. I have read and heard Savage's "highlights" though.

I think comparing Rhoads to Savage is quite a stretch. If anything, you could compare Rhoads to Howard with all the sexual double meanings and innuendos. I have only heard her twice, and so far I think she's witty and funny.

About the Nader incident, I think telling Nader "we can't afford you", and "I'm pissed at you" could hardly be considered hateful. Obnoxious and brutally honest? Yes.

All in all, I find her quite entertaining so far. That said, I would rather listen to Randy Rhoads anytime though.

Well, Rush has been doing the same for years and with the claims of "it's only a joke" that the ditto heads use to defend that bloated pompous windbag, i will defend her. If he can't take th eheat, get out of the kitchen (which would help him in more ways than one). And to be honest, I'm not that big a fan of hers. Her treatment of Nader was uncalled for and completely inexcusable.

I'd rather open the air waves to discussion of interesting topics, which is what I was hoping this would be. If I wanted to hear preaching, I'd talk to the Witnesses at my door every weekend.
