I bet if Philly scores first next game, they'll win, otherwise a good chance of going back to Philly for game 7 where I think they will have a decided advantage.

    Meantime, GO FLAMES!

I cannot adequately express my rage towards the Leafs right now. Really, that game was worse than the Conference Semi-Final they played against Jersey a few years back when they only got six shots on night. I have never in all my years of being a die hard Leafs seen such a pathetic display. Seriously, first shot on net didn't come until there were thirty seconds left in the first period. What's worse is that they didn't even have the heart to goon it up once it was a blow out. After the fourth goal Belfour just stopped trying. ****. **** ****ity **** **** ****. ****. Leafs ****ing suck. Holy shit goddamn it. The best ****ing part of the game was when ANtropov cross-checked JR in the back of neck forcing him to head-butt the ref. Fire Pat Quinn. Trade the whole team. Move them to ****ing Delaware. I don't ****ing want them.

I hope all the Leaf haters through out the world enjoyed that game.

Relax. It was just a bad game. They'll be back strong in TO. Of course, it remains to be seen if Toronto can win in Philly - where the Flyers have their number - but if Belfour comes up with a big game, I think that the Leafs can do it.

BTW, whatever happened with that racoon?

How odd that you asked. It got creamed by a car last night. I went to the grocery to but some well, food. And I saw its battered corpse on the road about four houses down. Sad really, I think she had just given birth to a horde (what the hell do raccoons do) of babies.

I feel much better about the loss. I had to get that off my chest. The Leafs have done a really good job of bouncing back after a embarrassing loss.

Indeed unusual that I would think again of the famous raccoon - after all of these months - just after it died. Strange vibrations over the internet.

Sad. Although I too find them annoying in the garbage (our local raccoon now has figured out how to open the 'raccoon proof' garbage containers that I recommended to you), I otherwise quite like them. Smart little buggers.

No. CuJo's a main reason that Calgary hasn't won this series in 5. He's given the Wings chances to win, and that's all the Wings can ask. Wings are being too cute with the puck--and the Flames are getting to all the loose pucks and making their chances count.

Stevie Y. had surgery for the fractures around his eye. He's out indefinitely but is expected to make a full recovery.

Thankfully. I was really worried about him, hockey aside.

Makes you fully appreciate just what a punk Ribeiro was for feigning injury / kicking his legs about wildly. When Yzerman started doing that, you *knew* it was bad. Most players in fact won't kick their legs unless they're in extreme pain / know they're hurt badly.

But I digress... I think Calgary has a pretty good shot at closing the series out now, especially being at home. Looking forward to the game very much. Should be more physical than the others I imagine. Especially if Detroit gets behind a goal early.

    Notice: not a playoff-related rant...

Unbelievable. The Canucks' owners have let Brian Burke go as a result of this year's poor playoff showing (though anyone is hard-pressed to say it's possible to be a "clear favorite" against Calgary now that they also have Detroit on the brink). After the Canucks lost game 7, Naslund was making comments to the effect that he didn't think all the right pieces were in place... to which Burke replied he'd be looking at the stars and not just the rest of the team.

I guess Naslund got the nod there, although a new GM is sure to be fast on Burke's heels since the draft is right around the corner. Wouldn't it be ironic if that person let Naslund go anyway. He's a great player and a good team guy but not much of a leader IMO. Too quiet and unemotional (like a lot of Swedish and Finnish players).

TSN is talking like it might be their VP of player personnel. Whatever the case, it's hard to argue that Burke got them where they are... pulling them up from the basement basically and on a small budget.

Maybe Bill Wirtz will pull his head out of his ass and make Burke an offer. Might be the Hawks' only hope, and I mean that quite sincerely.

    Flames Win! WOOT!

my pool ratings would be better with Detroit,

but I'm backing the boys from Alberta once they beat my Nucks.

sad to say I was right about Burke getting the boot. (since edited)

bad decision, IMO, but hopefully the new boss (Nonis or Tambellini maybe) will improve

Calgary is certainly a great team to watch.

I stayed up till almost 1:00am to see the end. What a great game. So many close calls and plenty of fast paced skating.

    Congrats Flames.

Ugh, I didn't enjoy work the next morning but it was a hell of a game.

This Leafs-Flyers game is going to overtime. Leafs come back in the third! Sundin came >< that close to putting the leafs ahead about 30 seconds after his game-tying goal. We could be in for a long night.

PS: Holy second period for San Jose, Batman!

Up where momma keeps the peanut butter, and it's into round 3 for the Flyers. Vintage Roenick.

Never mind the goal though, how about that hit on Kapanen? Dude took a good 15 second to get to the bench. It brought back memories of Ric Nattress wobbling back to the bench for the Flames after the Messier elbow in the chops.

It'll be a good Eastern Final. Come on Avs, take out those Sharks. I really don't want the Flames playing San Jose...

Buh-bye Leafy-poos! Still the end-of-series handshake was quality stuff. Lot's of guys genuinely congratulating each other and showing some class. Even Domi. Not bad for a cro-magnon man.

Avs lose as well. Possibly one of the biggest underachievements in hockey next to the Rangers annual farce. Buh-bye Kariya and Selanne. Although, if I were LaCroix, I'd look into signing Selanne because I think it's likely Foresberg is done in the NHL... he's going to play for his home team in the Swedish elite league I bet.

Naslund won't but I bet Peter will. He's just not into anymore I don't think. Wants to play for pride / his real home team I suspect.

Here are the latest standings (although my position more accureately resembles road-kill than someone "standing"). Man did I screw the pooch on SJ and Calgary (and on overestimating Dallas and New Jersey). I really didn't think SJ would be that tough given how beat up their division was. I guess sometimes good teams from weak divisions still excel, as TB and SJ are showing for sure.

    Go Flames Go!

Patsy Quinn showed just how classless he is by benching Ron Francis in the last game. So he is last NHL game was the 7-2 drubbing. Really Nice.

Leafs were good. Philly was better. It's time to dismantle the blue and white and start from scratch. And Moogs, you have to give Domi some credit. He was awesome. Best. Goon. Ever.

The loss was easier to take after seeing Tucker's hit in slo-mo. What's happenin' Sami Kappinen!

anyway, Go Flames Go. Bring the Cup home!!
