I think it is very unlikely Apple will continue selling the existing iMac design once an LCD version is announced. They wouldn't pollute the product matrix / confuse people that way - it is after all, a consumer product. You have to make the product line make sense to the average user. Selling both models at the same time at similar speeds would be anything but sensible to them.
As for power macs, I think you'll either see a new, smaller case design with Apollo and a new mobo inside, or said case design and mobo with G5 processors. And although they might be able to break it down to make sense to power users:
Existing design and chips, 800 and 867 MHz, greatly reduced price
New design and new chip, 1Ghz and up, similar prices to current high end
I also doubt they would do this. I think they will be cleaning up the product matrix one way or another, not muddling it. Existing iMacs are almost certain to be a memory once the current ones are sold. New power macs are a given at this point as well, but I'm not entirely sure what the big selling point will be. I think it might be G5's, but the selling point being the 64 bit OS and apps, not the speed. Even with a G5 I doubt they would get much beyond 1.2 GHz. Not enough to make head-on marketing claims against all the Athlons and P4's out there - Apple would take a different approach to the comparison.
I don't see much happening with the laptops this time around, though they could get a boost at MW Tokyo maybe.
So, the "Big Deal" is that Apple is going to upgrade all of the products.
Evidence:
-EOL iMacs and low speed iBooks at various outlets
-rebates on slowest TiBooks
-Powermacs not EOL, which means that some Powermacs will not look like significant upgrades, but Apple will want to get some more dualies and DDRRAM in the mix
As for other things, I think we'll see the elusive iPhoto, and an Apple-branded Firewire digital camera to complement it. We'll also the next generation of Firewire.

Very nice, my only problems are with the things in bold.
The iMac--NEEDS a G4 look to other threads for my (and others') explanations, I think that cannot be overlooked. Sure it could be in the top 2 models only if there is a split like you suggest, but there needs to be a G4.
The PowerBook G4 WILL NOT be updated. The rebates you speak of are for the OLD 550 PowerBook that DID NOT have the combo drive. Most of the new TiBooks have yet to hit retailers, why change them so soon?
Also, why update with the combo drive when they could have waited and updated all at once @ MWSF to save the whole retail fiasco thing?
If the PowerBook isnt updated, the iBooks will not be clocked past 650 and even that is pushing it. I think the only update to the iBook line will be with the combo drive. Look to see the 8x version being put in there and the low end being pushed up to whatever the rest of the line is at (100Mhz bus and all). Hopefully the prices will stay the same.
There is more, but I will address that in a new post (it has to do with your predictions with the prices...)

Ok, where was I?
OK, the iMac will start with a low end CD-Rom model not CD-RW why? it is cheaper. Period.
The $999 model will be CD-RW same reason as above.
See earlyer gripes about the LCD having a G4
iBook-See earlyer gripes about the speed. Low end CD-Rom model will still be there, only with same speed as the rest of the line.
The Combo drive will be 8x and be $1699 they wont drop this in price again...
The TiBook will not be reloaded, look to previous post.
The low end G4 will have CD-RW because it is cheaper. Lower price as well, $1599
Other then these MINOR gripes, I would say that your predictions look pretty good. Although I would rather be looking at the specs you posted in Horned Frog's post .

P.S. GREAT SUBJECT!! Also cool sig, who are you making fun of? I know I read that Einstein Dice sig somewhere in these forums...

yeah, i was just pulling things out of my butt. Still, I'm sticking to 'em. I'd like to see the "all G4 all the time specs", but it's just not gonna happen.
And the new tagline at apple.com (To go where no PC has gone before) has really got me.....obviously some sort of portability and/or size issue, but I got nuthin'.
The first sig (quantum physics) is in response to one I saw around here regarding Einstein. I made the quote up.
The second sig (buses, watermelons, cats) is a throwback to the craze of watermelon/cat signatures on the old AI forums combined with one I saw around here the other day.....
