Apple has been skimming the market by having a very limited product line. This has been good for margins and has helped stabilize them financially but it is not good for increasing market share.
I don't pretend to have the expertise to layout the perfect product line but certainly the market could support more products than they now sell.
For example:
-A low cost, stripped down G3/G4 tower in a plain case that could be used by system integrators, engineers, university researchers.
-A large heavy laptop with the ultimate in G4/G5 speed, one PCI slot, giant screen.
