I hate the name Kormac. Why did you copy that name? Korman76 was a freaking total bull sh*tter, and an @ss hºle. He lead us on that huge wild goose chase about 3 1/2 years ago. The guy was a menace.
There will be the i**** and the i****v2 Pro device it will dock up in to your powerbook I'm making plastics right now. We already shipped some straight to MW99 show floor. be expecting see them there. I got to go now. Making more plastics.
The new codec is what I was giving props to Kormac for... but I'm still waiting for a redone QT API. The current API for QuickTime hasn't changed appreciably from 1987... and it's *nasty* in comparison to gems like Cocoa. Does Not Play Well With Others. There's no reason why it can't be redone into a more modern OO framework (I wrote a first cut at one last year, but stopped on rumors of an OO QT being out Real Soon Now... silly me) and it would greatly ease a lot of multimedia development.
May 10, 2004 - Apple will soon bring distributed, cluster-based rendering to its full line of pro video apps, a source said.
The distributed rendering technology enables users to take advantage of free processing power on a cluster of networked computers, speeding up render time and improving workflow.
The Qmaster technology is currently available in Shake, Apple's compositing software; the company reportedly plans to bring Qmaster to its other professional video titles: Final Cut Pro, DVD Studio Pro, and the recently-announced Motion. The rendering capability will reportedly be included at no extra cost to users.
One possible use of the technology, a pro video customer noted, is that a user could network two PowerBooks while editing digital video in the field, so that one laptop could take advantage of the other's free processing power while rendering.
While it's not clear when Apple plans to roll out the distributed rendering features across its video line, a source indicated that the capability is coming soon.
