No, your post isn't too off-topic. Simply misguided.
1. The idea that Christian Fundamentalists believe that Islamic Fundamentalists are wrong is shocking. Absolutely shocking. Really.
2. Once again, repeat after me:
So-cons are different from Neo-cons!
So-cons are different from Neo-cons!
So-cons are different from Neo-cons!
Got it yet?
You start off by saying "A War on Islam is being waged by the Christian pro-Israel right" and then you launch into a tirade about the nefarious actions of neo-conservatives. At least Sammi Jo quoted actual Christian conservatives in her post.
Quote:
The unfortunate fact is that US Christian fundies are extremists. Their language is the language of war (crusades, waging war, battling for Christ, Christian soldiers) and this stems from their overriding belief that they and they alone are right.
That's just ridiculous. By that reasoning, I suppose you believe The Salvation Army is a military organization.
Am I missing something...how can you call yourself christian and support killing people? did not jesus want us to practice unrequited love for all?
Look in the Old Testament for Jerico. God ordered all of the inhabitants killed including children. The bible is full of death. That is a weak argument.

yes this is true, but aren't christians supposed to follow the teachings of jesus christ hence the name 'christians'
Also, doesn't christianity follow the new testament over the old?
From what I understand, Jesus was quite the oddity, in a world full of violence, he said more or less "hey, come on guys, this is really lame, can't we just love eachother?"
I don't really see how it's a weak argument, just because tons of shit has been piled on top of jesus' message doesn't mean that the core of his message is invalidated.
I'm not trying to like goad anyone on or anything, I don't know enough about religion, I just know that jesus told us to love everyone, and that's good enough for me.

You are right that you no nothing about religion.
The way you describe his message he sounds like a surfer.
I was enjoying the back and forth with Sego, but I guess I'll try to stay more OT from now on.
Let's face it, there are going to need to be foreign troops in Iraq for years to come. Civil war is a definite possibility without them. Seems to me to properly lay the foundation for withdrawal, the UN would need to step up and play a much bigger role.
Bush is open to it, sometimes he even sounds like he's begging for it.
Whatever the past problems with the invasion, isn't it time the UN steps up here? You can't complain about countries practicing unilateralism when there's a vacuum in leadership at the mecca of multilateralism.

Does that somehow invalidate the message?
How about this one "be...excellent to each other"

Hmmm...
-He had long hair
-He wore sandals
-He walked on water
-He threw a shindig with free bread, fish, and wine for a huge crowd
I think you might be on to something!
