That's the whole point. No Buttons other than green and red ( or any other color)

The screen implementation is not perfect ( makes the model look big and thin.)

    How about something like this?

Same width as the iPod mini, a bit longer.

The directional buttons and scroll wheel double as numeral buttons. There is one central button on top that does what is displayed on the screen. Either pick up a call, end it, etc. Think about it. When do you use the directional button on your phone in conjunction with the number pad? Either your manually inputing a number or scrolling through your phone book.

The mini has red and green on it? Huh. I have one right here. No red and green. just pink, white, and STN. (and gray lettering)

Apple would never release a GSM phone. Don't get into the argument with me about why GSM sucks. Please don't go there, for if you do, you're going to get a lot of frenquency domain math sent your way, and I don't want to have to do that. If Apple were to make a phone, I'm pretty sure they would partner with some other manufacturer and ship it in several configurations, most notably 3G CDMA, since that's the new beef in the US of A, Apple's main market.

Going further, it can't be longer than the Mini, which is already on the long side for a cell phone. Thinner, but longer. The mini also is a bit sharp on the ear. I did a test. Something in the mini form factor would, though, make a wicked cool star-trek-like communicator. Talk with the lid closed, walkie-talkie style, or flip it up and use it as a normal cell phone.

I'd make the green and red buttons (presumably answer and hang-up) considerably smaller. You would never be able to pull it out of your pocket without accidentally hanging up on someone. What if you made them smaller and set them both right above the scroll wheel curved so they follow the contours of the wheel. (kinda like eyebrows I guess).

    On a technical note. . .

    turn on anti-aliasing.

make polygons denser if you don't have the ability to use splines in the first place.

the scroll wheel to dial thing is a huge pain in the ass. i have a danger sidekick and i almost never dial with the scroll wheel. it's just awful. nearly as unergonomic as possible. you'd have to figure out a way to integrate a real keypad in there somewhere. and the proportions of that thing are just so awkward. there are phones now that are about that w/h but much much thinner. like 1/8" thin.

It looks generally awkward. Not something that you could use with one hand without alot of manuvering I feel. And there is still something buggy with the screen. Also I agree with the comment about properly integrating a numeric pad, because it would be hell to do any sort of dialing with a scroll wheel, what if it was emergency... Otherwise its shaping up better and better..

What about an ipod mini-ish wheel, with the top being send, the bottom being end, and the left and right being personalize d shortcuts? That'd sure cut down on the height

Sorry, but the takes here are well-intentioned, but all wrong.

Any Apple Phone will include PDA functions. Jobs has said as much, and he rarely says much about anything.

That means large screen, and either an alpha-numeric keyboard, aFastap keyboard, or an 'Ink' board. A PDA is useless without input capabilities. If you want to carry around your address book, Apple will sell you an iPod.

    Deal with it.
