I think it is a fantabulous idea...

Or since money is no object go for the desktop/laptop combo... That way you can have a machine that is portable that allows you to give presentations where-ever you may be...

You can wake the PowerBook with a bluetooth keyboard... There is a check box in the bluetooth preferences. I would reccomend the Apple bluetooth mouse and keyboard, not because they are the best (they are pretty good) but because you shouldnt have any problems with the connection like I do with my Belikn bluetooth mouse.

maybe go with the bluetooth KB but a standard mouse, and leave the mouse plugged into the display

I've got the opposite: wired Apple keyboard and Apple Bluetooth mouse. I never got the appeal of the Bluetooth keyboard, EXCEPT for looks/clean-looking desk. The way my keyboard shelf sits (and slides) below my desktop, you don't really even see the one cable poking out the back, so I couldn't see paying an extra $20 for going wireless on a keyboard (which never moves anyway).

Now the mouse...I LOVE - for the first time in 10 years - to not be fooling with a stupid wire constantly, having it get in the way and all.

Wireless keyboards (which never move, in most cases) makes about as much sense to me as someone owning an iMac or eMac and getting an AirPort set-up for it, even when the cable modem/wall jack is right behind their desk.

I know people who've dropped $400 on a Base Station and AirPort Card, and they've got ONE computer in the house - a desktop - and they're RIGHT BESIDE the cable modem wiring or telephone jack!

    Hellooooo? What's el pointe?
