If it still doesn't work, make the idiot buy you a new computer. That's all there is to it. And if he doesn't do it, email his parents. Or just sell off everything he has on eBay.

    LOL

Preferably after your own stuff is already safely in storage.

Well, if he's got a PC...I think all that will be needed is posting a certain IP address online.

(We need much eviler smileys at this point)

    oops....the pink dress wrecks it...nevermind....

Anyway, regarding "endless revenge cycle"...you simply aren't using enough excessive force.

Good news. I let it dry all day (ie, letting it bake in the sun, next to the window) and had a fan blowing on it for about ... well, ~12 hours, and now it can boot up when it's plugged in. However, it can't boot-up with just a battery. It can run with a battery after being booted (while plugged in), but booting with a battery is just not an option. In fact, the battery-icon in my taskbar is just a battery with an X, even when it's running solely on the battery.

Solution...? Well i have it up & running, so any other errors must be due to excess moisture. I'm running a movie, having my background-changing, and playing iTunes to heat up my box.. hoping it'll bake the rest of the moisture out :P

Haven't found any other problems ... so far. But yeah, ub3r w00t4g3...!

Just a hunch but you may try removeing the battery and letting the crevice dry out, also try drying the battery itself, if all else fails, find an other mac owner and borrow the battery, if it boots, have your buddy order a new battery, it is the least he can do for ya

#1 How could you let your new little baby come into harms way to begin with?!?! If I just received the same rig you did, I would have slept with my arms around it and you would have had to pry it from them...

#2 Was it on or asleep when it was violated, or was it off?

even if everything ends up working hunky dory, your roomate still owes you a dinner at a steakhouse, since the stress he caused probably drove you insane for at least a day, and inconvenienced you greatly.

At least, that's how I would pay you back. Either the steakhouse or two cases of beer.

Have you tried resetting the PMU?

When it is off, press and then release Shift-Control-Option-Power. Don't press the Function key while doing this. Wait 5-10 seconds then press the power button to restart the computer.

If the 'book was off when it was watered, it should be ok if you let it thouroughly dry out, which it sounds like you did.

Jeez, the shithead must have just dropped a full 2L bucket of brine on it. If some water got in your battery or near the battery circuitry, it's going to short out some lines and mess up everything.

If it's your freshman year, you're going to leave in a few weeks and probably never see this guy again. I highly recommend serious actions to be taken. Quite simply, tell him he can have your powerbook, but he needs to buy you a new one and give you $100 for the amount of irritation he caused you.

It's simple. First, back everything up on your external HDD.

Then, call Apple, and tell them the battery was broken when you got it. They will send you a box which will arrive in ~2 days.

Finally, you put the Powerbook in the box, and send it to Apple. ~4-5 days later it will come back all better.

    Great idea! I approve.

Go for something his sound driver needs... if you don't like the music he plays that is.
