There's a bit of irony in thinking someone would splurge on material goodness to impress you, isn't there?

Look, no one is saying people shouldn't have the choice of owning an H2 or Toyota Sequoia or an 80" television for their SportsCenter habits. Bling Bling is what it is. Some people think it's an important thing to look sheik or "powerful" among their peers.

[Furthermore, some guys would rather lure hot women with their material possessions than with their own personal traits... and some women are all about that scene. As long as the blingsky is there, they're "happy"... everything else is of secondary importance (even marriage often times)].

If that's you, go for it. Bling bling yourself into an orgasmic fit and love your toys like they're your own children (many people do).

It's not me, nor any of my friends (and I do have friends with nice cars, not Jalopies). When I look upon that crowd and try to ascertain exactly what it was they were thinking when they bought their H2 (or whatever)... I often must conclude "what an idiot." And maybe some of that is as much how they drive their H2 (or brag about their TV) as it is the act of just owning one, but... whatever.

Doesn't make them an idiot necessarily (maybe they think I'm an idiot for buying a Subaru and several thousand dollars worth of computer and camera geer), but it seems pretty obvious to me.
