I like underground stuff in general, tunnels and caves. I wish we had more of those! If I lived in the US I'd be a regular visitor (if not contributor) at infiltration.org.
Naturally people are not suited to living underground (esp. if that means that we do not get sunlight or equivalent). However, if we build everything underground that we can, that leaves more space and air for us on the surface. IMHO most motorized traffic, parking and bulk storage should go underground in highly populated areas.
(note: in my home town, they've been relocating the main bus terminal underground for the last three years... all "mass" parking in city centre is underground, though much too overpriced to be used.. now I just have to hope they expand on this concept)
