    I don't see anything that looks like it might be a socket for a second processor. <img src="graemlins/bugeye.gif" border="0" alt="[Skeptical]" />

That's the memory controller. Here's a diagram of the older PowerBooks from Medical Mac:

figured it would be a controller, but wasn't sure.

so i'm sure this is what that guy saw. it was the approx. shape and size of the processor, so he figured they must be one and the same. oh well, guess you really shouldn't expect too much from a rumor site.

thanks for the labeled pic though.

It wouldn't be a socket but rather just a pinout, right?

Ok, but that is an older PowerBook. We need someone who has bought an 800 within the past week, because maybe this "supposed" change was more recent.

Believe me, I am skeptical like the rest of you, I just want positive proof!

The photo alcimedes posted is the 800MHz DVI.

Well I bought my 800mhz Tibook in May, and though the heat ducting obscures most of the board what I can make out is very similar to the photo. The memory controller is in the same place as the photo along with the other components. I don't see a 2nd processor.

I admit I am very curious to know if there is a capability of adding a second processor beign apowerbook 800 owner.... But the one thing I dont get is why would it be there and nothing was said by apply, and why isnt it beign used (If it is there) It seems like a silly idea????

Also WOW! it would be soo damm hot! One processor keeps it warm but two???
