After burning a playlist from iTunes, I've tried 'Exploring' the CD that I've burned. This is what I see:
Audio CD ( E: )
Track01.cda >> 1kb >> (date I modified it) >> Files Currently on the CD
Track02.cda >> 1kb >> (date I modified it) >> Files Currently on the CD
...
Track(n).cda >> 1kb >> (date I modified it) >> Files Currently on the CD
Notice how all the files are just 1kb?
Obviously, iTunes has intentionally masked the info/CD Text. Plus, could Microsoft be in on the deal?
To make matters worse for me, like a fool, I've downloaded the Main Event TV episodes of the 2009 World Series of Poker. My iTunes player can't go a full minute without pausing for about 3 or 4 seconds. Then, when it starts up again, I've lost that time and have to go back 3 or 4 seconds to see/hear what I missed! I have a fairly modern PC. WTF?!
Sorry, I was ranting and off subject. iTunes does that to me. Please accept my apologies.
I've just made some audio CDs and I've experienced this problem of missing track titles, and just get Track 01, Track 02, etc. instead. I had "Include CD Text" selected in "Burn Settings." Because my playlist is 38 songs, it need to burn 3 CDs.
What's interesting is that on the last CD, with only 5 tracks, the track titles ARE included!
Maybe it only includes the track titles if there's enough space on the disc? In which case of course it should bump a track to the next CD. It's got its priorities mixed up, I guess. In all cases, definitely seems like a glitch in the software to me...
When i burn an Audio CD, the option to include CD Text is greyed out so it cannot be selected. All other options in Preferences etc are correctly selected, I'm wondering why put the option if they won't allow it??
If anyone is still having trouble viewing track names of mix CD's through itunes even when they have been burnt with cd text included, uncheck the option to check the internet for the track names in the preferences menu. iTunes tries to get info on an entire cd and because it's not an actual cd its information won't be on the database as a whole (if you know what i mean). Hopefully this works, I havn't tried it with CD's burnt by somebody else yet though...
Thanks for the original post on this and also to Clark D. I will go home and try this out. this has been something that has really had me stumped. I make a lot of Mixed CD's for my friends but when they go to place them on their itunes (or mine for that matter) there are no titels just like everyone says Track 1, Track 2 etc. It drives them all crazy as they have to manually try and work out the titles and type them in.
I seriously can't believe this should be an issue in Itunes as it does everything else quite well. Maybe it now won't be an issue if Clark D's advice works so I will try it tonight I really do hope this works !!!
I recently burned a CD of the soundtrack to LOST that I bought on iTunes. Like you, no track names showed up when I put the CD in my drive and looked in My Computer (Win XP machine), but when I played the disc with Windows Media Player, the tracks were all listed. I don't know why the heck iTunes seems to have so many glitches like this (like why does my iPod's music contents show up only as track numbers? Makes keeping two libraries updated a royal PAIN!).
I'm using iTunes 10.0. The solution I found to missing track names and album art on CD's burned from iTunes is to change the disk format that comes up after you click on "Burn Playlist to Disc". Change the disk format to Data CD or DVD. After I did that the track names showed up on the burned disk along with the album art. That information was successfully loaded to another iTunes library without any incident.
I did burn it to "Data/DVD". There is a warning that it may not play on all equipment. It worked but it would not play on my home stereo & it wouldn't play in my PT Cruiser. It did play & display titles, etc. on my computer & in husbands car. I have not read good things about Nero. I need a solution that will allow anyone to play the CD with titles on any machine. I am distributing my recorded tracks as demos to get gigs so it has to play on all equipment. Any more suggestions?
