Ethernet to Fire Wire?
Ok - this might sound like a stupid question, and no, I don't smoke crack - lol.
I was talking with a friend yesterday who has an older Powerbook. A question came up regarding the built-in ethernet card. Anyways, since Ethernet is faster than Fire-Wire, the question asked was is there anyway to convert the ethernet port to fire wire? I couldn't provide him with an answer so I figured I would post it on AI and hope that someone could help us out.
Thanks.

What should be transportet/connected?
ethernet: 100 Mbps
firewire: 400 Mbps
which one is faster?
nothing you describe exists and it never will.
just buy a firewire PC card. they're cheap.
Besides, I would sacrifice a little speed for convenience.

yes. but if you've got gigabit ethernet, then you've also got firewire.
if you don't have firewire, you've got 100 at best.
there are all sorts of technical reasons why such a device will never exist, and i really don't feel like going into them.
And if it would be it should be to expensive.
It ist better to sell the old PB and buy a new
iBook or PB G4 with Firewire included.
