I cannot believe this is the same team that whips my Horns every year.
Someone kidnapped the real Sooners.
although this now brings up the question. If Cal was 9 yards away from beating USC this year, and beat them last year, and Texas Tech destroyed Cal this year and Texas destroyed Texas Tech, is Texas the best team in the nation then
exactly--i'm glad OU got smoked. most overrated team this year.
i doubt any other team this year could have done what usc did to us tonight. so talk to me about overrated when purdue manages to climb out of mediocrity and play for all the marbles. but i will say we got ass stomped so perhaps your right. oh well, hats off to usc. they have a potential dynasty on their hands with all that young talent they keep bringing in. fuck.
groover pass the aspirin. what do you mean you only have midol? oh.
well, one might say that this legitimizes the BCS, yet it does bring up a few questions still...
1.) oklahoma apparently did not deserve its #2 ranking. would human voting have cured that? maybe. maybe not. but we assume the rankings are infallible, when in fact, they are. with human voting, we accept the fact that they're rankings based on an assemblage of opinion, and therefore open to error. so we are no better off than the pre-BCS days (daze)...
2.) it now appears that usc had every right to complain about not sharing the national title last year due to the bcs rankings. yeah, yeah. it's hard to compare one year to the next, but this team sure as hell looked like last's year's team, reloaded. but of course, saban said "these are the rules we agreed to play by, so we won." (paraphrased a bit from last year). while he had a point, it does conveniently avoid saying "and by the way, those rules suck).
3.) i would still like to see usc up against either auburn or even utah. hell, give them utes a chance for an upset.
4.) or, we could try it truly old-school, and stop trying to crown a national champion at all. bring back all the honor of winning your conference and your bowl game, and let that be the end of it. of course, those schools in contention for the "national championship" would never stand for it, considering how much money, etc. they get for "winning it all." so that's my own little pipe-dream.
USC is so superior to ANY college team at this point, that they can probably whup a few NFL teams. Including my Raiders...
Nonetheless, the Sooners suXxorD and chocked ugly...
No college team could beat the worst team in the NFL (the Niners). Just look at the players in the trenches, I'd say the average NFL lineman has 50+ pounds on the college guy.

Human voting created that. Both the AP and Coaches' polls put OK at #2. Remember, the BCS this year is an absurdly simple average of the two polls (1/3 each) and a group of computer rankings (1/3 total). They dropped all the fancy stuff after the outcry last year that the polls didn't count for enough. Well, we got what the polls wanted this year.
I think they need a playoff. You're never going to make everyone happy picking two teams out of hundreds, most of which never play each other, for a winner-take-all championship. The odds that two teams will each clearly stand out from the rest are just too long. Although even a 4-team playoff probably still wouldn't make everyone happy - it certainly wouldn't have pleased Cal this year. Once you get to 8 teams, I think there will be many fewer complaints, but a three-week, seven-bowl playoff will never happen, no matter how cool it might be.

USC is practically an NFL team.
There really was no contest tonight. USC dominated and showed they were probably underrated by many.

That logic works for me.

dear god, make it stop. this is getting mighty ugly.
You should thank Ashlee Simpson. The Sooners didn't have the worst performance of the night.
