I don't think this is a huge story either but I do think it's a shame that Apple still sells computers even now which don't allow you to plug the Shuffle directly into the machine without additional cables or a dock since this direct plugging-in IS something they advertise as a feature. If it was just older pre-Shuffle Macs no longer on sale okay, but some of the current Macs still on sale now are affected. I just think it would have been nice if they'd thought about it in the design, that's all.
You know if a PC maker did something like this, I can't help thinking Apple users would be saying the direct opposite about how badly-designed it was.
I have been made very welcome on this forum, and find Apple users very warm, friendly and helpful and I'm looking forward to entering the Mac world when I do "switch".
But I do think it's best to be a bit more open-minded when it comes to discussing faults with Apple products, so that Apple can use the comments posted here - I'm sure someone from Apple does keep an eye on them - to improve products even further in future.
There's a lot of "Oh so this Apple product won't do that right out of the box big deal go buy a *insert extra product here* for *insert amount of money here* and get over it!"
If a PC user said that it would be making excuses.... I don't want to have to go back to the store and buy anything else for however a small amount of money to make the product work the way it was designed to with another, current Apple product.
When Apple fans tell PC users to switch it's all "it just works!" and "you don't need anti-virus software which is an extra expense you need to go back to the store to buy just to make it work as it should" - so to make people think Apple stuff will "just work" right out of the box and then when people point out any problems to say "oh so go back to the store and buy x" sounds kind of contradictory.
