So this may be a case of Apple over-reaching and being called on it.

The ONLY griping I heard was about the RAM. I never heard someone say "$100 for a 4x DVD-RW drive! WTF! I want 8x, and DVD-/+RW, or I'm walking!". I can't say I heard any complaints about the blietooth/airport duet, either, or the price of it (maybe everyone was focusing on the RAM?).

Hell, if they really wanted to end the griping, they would've upped the video ram or processor, too.

Finally, the hard drive option was NOT $90, but $50 before, so there's no change there (otherwise why would you upgrade the hard drive, when for $9 more you could've gotten the faster processor as well).

They're now charging £561.53 for a 1GB DIMM and £152.88 for the combined bluetooth and airport upgrade despite them costing £35 and £49 if you bought them separately!

Let's hope they fix that soon.

That was only for the 1.25Ghz model.

The 1.42Ghz model has the 1GB upgrade at £220.01 and the combined Bluetooth+AE at £69.99, which is drop on the previous pricing scheme. IIRC the 1GB was nearer £400.

This is stupid. I priced up a stock 1.25ghz machine with AE + BT module it comes to £491.88. However a stock 1.42ghz comes to £468.99 with the AE + BT adaptor. If you need AE + BT connectivity, you may as well buy the 1.42 for cheaper and get twice the hard drive size...

I called Apple on a mini I pre-ordered and they said that the 8x Superdrive listed was a mistake. The mini still comes with a 4x Superdrive!
