I don´t think there´s much of a difference here - on the paper, it´s only slightly better, and I don´t think Real World Apps care much about 170Mhz more...

This thread sat for a bit and wanted to bump it in case someone has had newfound experiences using a mini as a server or has used macminicolo.net.

I think I'll want to setup a server within the next month or so and I wanted to see if anyone else has done this yet.

I've recently started looking for hosting again so I decided to bump this thread. I read some posts on the macnn forums that seemed to say good things about mini colocation, so I'll probably still go for it.

However, since I'd need to buy a mini, configure it, and send it to the colo peeps to get racked, it'd take some time to get everything up and running. I'm tempted to get some cheapie web hosting in the meantime, so I can host a site and then move it over to my mini when its ready.

I've been looking at a few sites that do php 5 / mysql 4.1 hosting. Anyone have any recommendations?

And of course, has anyone used mini colocation services?

For light use Ive had good experiences running off of a home DSL using zoneedit to handle the dynamic dns.

If you're going to do colo, you might as well use a local company so you can visit your mini. Colo is colo; don't let someone charge you extra just because you're using a mini.

If you don't need to custom configure the machine, then a managed hosting (renting) setup is probably better.
