How many laptop disk drives do you know that can capture uncompressed HD? For that matter, desktop disk drives? Every HD editing station, etc. I have ever seen that could handle uncompressed HD required large disk arrays, fiber channel connects, etc.

It definitely looks like you read too much "IT Sucker Weekly".

Could you please remind us of the aggregate datarate of, say, 720p HD video shot at 60 fps?

This will give us better idea whether we need 100 stripped drives, or maybe 99.5 will do.

Well any 7200 RPM hard laptop disk with a hardware chip for processing the HD video can do this with 1 disk? And what does this have to do with my current powerbook sucking, and me being angry, and jealous of my pc coworkers.

    :P

My DVR on my comcast box records HDTV on a 160gb 5800rpm drive with 2mb of cache. It's about having a chip to process it. People use their macmini's to cature HD. it's about the processor not the disk in the case of HD.

my 7200 rpm 100GB LAPTOP seagate drive records HD perfectly. pointless though

    Bull:

Apple compares themselves to PC manufactures and the rest of the PC world. Apple considers themselves a player. So do I. I will compare because I either use Mac or PC. And I will compare them.

But it is not fair to make comparisons of the type Intel vs. Apple. Intel is a (giant) chip manufacturer, Apple is not and use whatever IBM and Freescale manage to produce.

It is a bitch session. It's also about Apple's future hardware... If you don't like the thread don't post, threads without posts die quickly.
