Well, that's an immense relief. Much better than a cable than the motherboard, or the tube. That should be a cheap repair, and a cheap engineering fix.

And what about LCDs are so superior except for the size? When I look at them I'm never impressed-the mouse arrow disappears if you move it too fast, you can't change the resolution, some of them look fuzzy. I mean, do laptop screens look better than CRTs? Have they ever looked better? I don't get it..................................</strong><hr></blockquote>

I don't know what sort of analog, passive-matrix crap PC LCDs you're looking out, but cursor submarining is not a problem. If I scrub the cursor quickly, I can see every single place on screen where it's drawn, tack sharp. Everything is sharp and bright and clear. Any active matrix LCD that suffers from cursor submarining is beyond cheap.

A good LCD is: Easier to look at for long periods, higher contrast, crisper (better definition of the individual pixels), smaller, requires less power, doesn't whine or flicker (I can see CRT flicker under 100Hz). Colors on mine are vivid and clear, if not quite accurate enough for a designer. But then, I have an Apple LCD whose signal is digital all the way through the video card up to the screen. That helps a lot.

I've seen some pretty unimpressive LCDs too, in Best Buy. But I didn't buy one of those.

    Are you trolling?

Mouse arrow disappears and no rez changes are pretty consistent of cheap analog lcd's, maybe you just haven't seen a nice lcd? Or any Apple lcd? No, they don't necessarily look better, but there's no refresh rate; it's great on the eyes.

    Trolling?

Anyway, I have a lineup of LCDs at work. None are digital however, maybe thats the difference. One is a Phillips, one is Envisions, two are NEC. The NEC's look better than the others, I have to admit. I just don't understand why the CRT's we also sell almost all look better than the LCDs. I will check around other stores that sell macs and check them out. I do remember looking at an iMac at CompUSA and I wasn't impressed with the LCD picture quality. However, my friend owns the 17 inch LCD and he loves it. Perhaps when I am ready to buy a new monitor I will buy an LCD first as long as the store has a return policy..................................

I bought 5 eMacs today for my company (interns, etc). Great deal. Now Microcenter has iBook 700s for $899! I also saw the new 12" PB! Pretty sweet. I still like the 17" better though (love the backlit keyboard)
