Cut that crap out midwinter! I have to fly down to Dallas next week for a wedding.

I never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever,

NEVER ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever...

....thought I'd be 'stuck up' about the living up North.

But when you walk into a Starbucks in Wichita Falls Texas with the false hopes of communicating the word "Americano", or use the words "homeopathy" or "hummus" in ANY retail location in east Texas, I'm sorry, I love those little rebel devils to death, but OMG there are times I want to climb the walls, start another rebellion or find a teleporter.

Heh. Dallas sucks. If you have time, take a trip to Ft. Worth, which is a really neat town.

I know, Riscky's BBQ downtown right by the Worthington, the stockyards, the Amon Carter -- Russell and Remington originals, check out the 'Flying Saucer' (downtown) if you haven't. Some great places, the Bass brothers have spent some serious money downtown.

There's not really much Bob Dole stuff in Russell Kansas. Or at least there wasn't when I wasthere in 97. A good rule of thumb is to never, ever have your car break down in Kansas.

While it is true that Amtrak has the best service in the Boston to DC corridor, it does have pretty comprehensive service in the West as well. Trains aren't as frequent and distances are greater obviously between many destinations just because major cities are more spread out but you can still make it work.

There's always greyhound as well but that gets a definite

You could do East Coast and visit other cities on weekends and then spend your longer weeks off at the end on the West Coast. Even do a green tortoise trip or the like if you are into that as it is fairly affordable and takes care of the transportation issues plus lets you meet other travelers your age including many from Europa.

A cousin of mine from Ireland has plans to visit Boston this summer. Another cousin visited two summers ago. The New England Area is great because there is so much, so close. Boston is a great historical city and has plenty to do in terms of entertainment and night life (it does close down early, 2AM). To the south you have Newport, RI and you have Cape Cod/Islands for their beaches. To the north is New Hampshire with some great areas for hiking and outdoor activities. New York is only a 4 and a half hour drive, making it an option too. Washington DC isn't too far either.

I guess you could start in Boston and work your way down to New York and Washington. The Boston area/Northeast is generally more humid than Ireland, so keep that in mind.
