I know. I have the new Alienware catalog. The part that's bothering me is the configuration I want only comes with the intel Xeon processors. I want the Opterons damn it! I'm not a big intel fan even though I hear they render a little faster.

Man when people get on our cases about Apple's market share,

imagine the market share AMD will have when their hot new processors

start at over $1,500 and you still have to run XP Pro. Arghhhhhh!

    Even so,

What makes the AMD dual cores so cool is that they are pin compatible

with existing 90nm Opterons. So a dual Opteron setup could be converted to a Quad simply by plugging in the new chips.

If I knew this would also be a feature offered in the Apple towers,

there wouldn't be so much to worry about as long as your motherboard

    could handle the upgrade.

Apple really doesn't need to offer the fastest computer on the planet, right out of the box, but crippling the users upgrade options is a serious

    problem.

This STILL does not solve the PCI-E issue and that's why I haven't ordered an existing tower.

I'm not getting stuck with an AGP only motherboard

if they're going to change to PCI-E within 6 months.

If the TS predictions are correct, then I might as well

buy a reduced price 2.0 to hold me over.

I don't know if I can handle another six weeks of Apple's

    PowerMac winter.

thats what i said. DualCore = 1 Memory Controller, 2 Single Core = 2 Memory Controller

Apple can't be Dell, Alienware, IBM, HP and all other PC manufacturers in one.

Apple can't be all those in one, but, dammit, it should be offering the PowerMac and it's category of users (power users, no BS customers) the ability to ALWAYS stay on the bleeding edge of technology, not wait for theatrical presentations by Sir Jobs and his minions when he feels its best.

No 400GB HD options? No latest graphics cards options? etc?

This game is getting old for power users. Give us the fucking goods. Give the theatrics for the consumer crap.
