Sadly, a good number of our most experienced Mac tech geeks left when that all went down. I personally think the "techy" info here isn't as abundant now that many of them are gone. It's still here, but just not as much of it.

As happens with many things in life, all the fun of the Tension Relief Clinic ended very badly. To this day I still regret what (minor) part I played in the whole thing. I would rather have all those at AN back here.

    GWS:

You can probably stop all the crap about being banned for posting about AN (or as I like to call it; StarTrekFanFic.com) because it's pretty obvious you aren't going to be.

    CosmoNut:

You are absolutely right about it splitting the community. It's a shame that Brad and the rest did it. That was the goal from the outset; to split the community.

So now we have two weak boards instead of one strong one; because Brad had to have his own playground and enough people weren't able to see through it.

Well, that or the lame top down way the boards are run, piss poor responses to user feedback, and obnoxious advertising got bad enough that a lot of people were sick of it and left.

But that could just be me.

As for the two weaker boards to show for it remark, you might want to check your user stats groverat. One board seems to be growing just fine. The other seems to have its numbers steadily dwindling. See "Retail Discussion" for a real world example of why.

I just can't believe I've been oblivious about the whole thing - I have noticed quite a drop in AI though, and then there is Spymac, which has taken off like a rocket and has SHIT loads of advertising. I don't know what it is, but I just can't stand that place - it's too gaudy lookin.

Oh well, maybe after Apple doubles it's market share, things will pick up again.

AN's board started growing only when they hitched to a site that actually provided content.

As far as "user feedback", don't make me laugh. "AppleNova" was a stupid name and the users voted against it (AN just happened to "win" by 1 vote after it was already decided by the admins), but it didn't matter because Brad, et al decided that was the name and the vote was an absolute sham.

It's Brad's playground, it's not about the users, it's about him. And that's fine. The board is fine, do your thing. I can post at either one just fine. But don't sell that "user feedback" and "community" crap, it's a joke.

As far as ads... who the hell actually sees banner ads these days?

I nominate this thread for a lock-down. We don't need to see a belly bumping contest involving a moderator. The OP's joke is over, ha, ha.

So what we should do is allow discussion of it but only in terms that glorify Chairman Brad?

The great split happens one year ago. What is done is done and canno't be changed.

For the staff here not listening, you may be surprised in the not so far future. We are working on it. You will be informed when it will be time.

PS : I post sometimes on AN, and I have no problems with this, but I hate to comment AN on AI and AI on AN. This two forums are split forever, so if someone has something to say about one of this particular forums, he should do it on the proper place.
