Personally I wouldn't like to see one of those awful things on a Mac, peeling at one corner, sliding down the case or missing with just a big glob of sticky stuff where it used to be.
Well I didn't see any "Intel Inside" stickers on the picture of the Intel-based Development Power Mac...
Still, that doesn't mean much...
Steve Jobs would have disappeared under a tidal wave of enraged developers. RDF Reflexes....
I'm thinking that a new 'Apple-ized' Intel logo will be developed. Something to attract The Masses ("Ogg! Look! Intel! Okay to buy!"), yet something cool enough to retain You and Me ("How debonaire and stylish! One can easily ignore the processor and be enraptured by the sheer beauty and harmonious integration of function and form of this logo....")
You can take off the logo anyway. I just did it on my Sony VAIO, and it's a simple sticker with some glue on it. It's not like its deeply embedded into the case, it's just a simple sticker.
Intel typically partners with its OEMs like Dell to help in their advertising efforts. While helping the OEM, the ads also market the Intel processor. Mulloy wouldn?t comment on whether the Apple/Intel deal announced this week would include any kind of co-marketing plan.
"Apple has one of the top brands in the world, and I?m sure they will do what they need to be consistent with what people have come to expect from them," Mulloy added. "The key for us is to give them what they need for them to be successful. What they do with respect to marketing is going to be their call?far be it for us to tell them how to manage their brand."
I think Apple's autonomy here will extend to the dreaded "sticker of doom."

Precisely. This is why Otellini huged Apple aka Jobs
that warmly. Otellini needs some style in his company.
At least as an percieved style all around.

You know we really shoul be complaining more about IBM's lack of PPC developement. If they kept there promise we would have a portable G5 and 3Mz G5 last year and dual cores this year.

fuck IBM and their chip services. fuck their thinkpads and their PCs all gone to Lenovo now. fuck their corporate IT support (i wasn't impressed by it in australia). fuck their crappy bullshit ads (IBM ads suck. let's face it. its bullshit)
they can go kiss my shiny brown butt. we'll see how long it takes to produce xbox360 and ps3 and nintendo nextgen consoles in the volumes they want and delivered to market in the timelines they desire. microsucks can go throw money down that black hole as much as they want. let IBM get rich of microsoft's gambles in the home entertainment dept.... i'm more optimistic though on Cell, with Sony's Playstation dept. driving it (toshiba's just riding coattails, i'm afraid...). sony at least throws money at something to get it done right (lets ignore ATRAC for now), profits come later
phew. that was good to get off my chest. excuse my french, but say it with me one more time...
FUCK IBM.
........
IBM has failed to meet Apple's expectations. in turn, Apple has wasted a lot of money in R&D, engineering, hardware design, marketing, to make the most of IBM's fuck-ups. Money that could go to a lot of better stuff (we Mac users have a lot of ideas on this, no doubt). Thanks to IBM too, now a lot of developers are up the wazoo having to rewrite code (not a bad thing though as some people have said, to make it more platform-independent).
the point is, IBM is a dead weight that a stellar and visionary company like Apple does not need, and good riddance to fucking bad rubbish.
I expect to see an intel logo on the shipping box. In fact I bet there's a generic PowerPC logo on the current boxes.
If Apple sticks intel stickers on the hardware they'll get letters. It won't stop me from buying a new laptop, but it'll make the unveiling process a little less fun.
.... In fact I bet there's a generic PowerPC logo on the current boxes.....
IIRC there isnt
edit: it says in Myriad Pro Semibold or whatever as a bullet point PowerPC g4 processor, etc, etc, next to the dreaded Comes with a whopping 256mb of ram !!
.... Just some stuff in small type somewhere on the bottom or side of the box that says "PowerPC is a registered trademark of International Business Machines used under license" or something like that.
No cool PowerPC logo (yeah i got a bit attached to it...)
DEFINITELY NO IBM LOGO ANYWHERE.
(apple marketing is crafty, the words IBM do not appear anywhere since it is recognisable, they just use "International Business Machines", the full name)
it will be very very interesting to see how they handle the Intel cross-branding foofarahh.... some target markets would like to see Intel somewhere on the box (featuring Intel super duper blah blah blah processors) .... others would like no reminders of it and just see Apple Macintosh G6 i-something or power-something
edit2:
ATM my prediction is "based on Intel xxxxxxx processor" as a decent sized bullet point on the box (14-18pt type) but that's it, no intel logo, no other mention of intel. definitely no mention of xxxxxxx chipset and so on. if using intel integrated graphics, i seriously doubt if they will advertise that aspect. ATi or nVidia graphics, yes, will be advertised in a bullet point, but again, no ATi or nVidia logo on the box.... we'll see though, things can change a lot in 6 months.

Customer: "Something about an error and non-system disk."
Tech Support: "Look at your machine. Is there a floppy inside?"
Customer: "No, but there's a sticker saying there's an Intel inside."
