I love TIVO products and admire founders and management. However the one risk no matter how talented and hard working they are ultimately at the mercy of the cable/sat/and telco companies who carry TV to the home. How these companies treat the customers should give one pause as to how well they treat their so called ''partners''. Unles TIVO has some way to shake loose from these guys I would feel hard pressed to put money with it. Of course it could turn out to be a rocket in the future and your timing on the stock was quite good. Apple otoh finds itself almost independent (MS Office being the only current threat if MS stops developemt for the Mac) In fact a number of public companies are dependent on AAPL for their immediate future Synaptics, Sigmatel, Portal etc
Yup. That's what I'm banking on with Tivo. That's also why I bought AAPL immediately after 9/11. I think my first round of buying was at $13 or so.
Ironic but true, proven over and over again. I am counting on this. Why did it go up? Also, does this weird phenomenon happen to other companies? It's so counter-intuitive.
If people could predict what a stock was going to do they'd be trillionaires and wouldn't be posting on the internet.
Slowly put your money into a low-cost index fund over time. You still don't know which way it's going, but at least the trading costs will be lower and you'll be buying more when it's low and less when it's high.

It'll tank after Apple unveils some revolutionary new device. Just wait until Macworld Paris.
