You are right, I am bit overloaded, but I usually have almost all of the apps open, except for Powerpoint, which I often don't need for several weeks, I also sometimes quit VirtualPC, Word, Illustrator because they tend eat up CPU cycles for no apparent reason.
I simply like it not having to wait for apps to start up and documents to open. That is were OS X simply rocks (if you have enough RAM). It's really a pitty that current Powerbooks only get up to 2 GB.
Sure.
Well, understand that you simply couldn't do this in XP at all. The machine would have frozen from memory leaks. Before that happened, programs would begin to respond as if they were in molasses. It could take minutes to switch.
Dashboard is so slow to load after it's been idle that it is almost useless. I am on a 867mhz PowerBook G4. I can't believe it would require more CPU. It's loading some freakin Javascript. They need to seriously clean up Dashboard. I frankly just don't use it anymore. It's faster to keep safari open and hit up Weather.com or Dictionary.com or hollywood.com. And that is sad. So that's a huge thing I hope 10.4.3 helps. I heard the new WebKit helps?

I thought they had re-written the Javascript code for Tiger to remove the crap-o-la, CPU hogging aspects of it - I guess it was more a rumour than fact.

What do you mean by slow? Before I upgraded a 733GHz G4 here to dual 1.8GHZ Dashboard would come up instantly (well, within a second).
It takes time to update the internet enabled functions. That depends upon your bandwidth, the bandwidth of the site (s), how many Widgets you have, and which ones. It takes the seven I have that need to call out five seconds to update the first time they are called in a session. After that, it's instant.
One complaint is that they don't keep constant updates but depend upon awaking only when called. But if they did, you know that people would complain that they are constantly using up bandwidth.
