Did you all se the inner stuffings of the Nano? Its basically a shuffle with a color screen. Not any place for things in there. Given the fact that most PCs lack firewire the obvious choice is to skip firewire.

Actually it looks so much like the shuffle I wonder if it can be upgraded/can be linux´ed. Anyone have an idea?

I've never owned an iPod but the Nano is going to be my first. Its exactly what I have been waiting for. I only hope the battery is easy to change as compared to the first iPods.

apple claims it 14 hrs, which i have found i never actually need that much. i have found my ipod (clickwheel non-color0 gets about 16 hrs and i never have had a problem with battery running out, i charge it only when i leave it in my computer accidentaly. my point: battery life will not be a problem

i luv my nano, its on route to my house, very fast job apple

Actually the answer is simple they are probably using a SigmaTel chip and it doesn't support Firewire, only USB.

Bought one--it is fantastic!! I never had an Ipod before--I was amazed that the wheel was touch sensitive, and that the sound was sooooo good.

But what he was asking was whether the battery would be able to be easily changed. From what I saw on a link last night from a translated Japanese blog where they took a nano apart, I do not think that the battery can be changed by the end user on the nano at all without possibly doing damage to the unit. I might be totally wrong on this, however.

The nano is almost microscopic in size--i would not want to touch the battery. My concern is going through security on a palan. I wouldn't want those a...holes to touch the thing.

I think I'll put in my wife's purse and let it go through that way.

I'm also going to buy one and it'll also be my first iPod. This is exactly what I have been waiting for. (Now if Apple could only release a powerbook with Freescale's dual core 8641D chip and a screen with higher resolution..).

Well, for whoever cares, I finally got an iPod. I got the black nano 4GB.

    This is my first one...

Now I just need a means to play the music through my car stereo.

For the people who get annoyed at the screen or case scratching, I left the plastic protective cover on my iPod Nano and I can still use the wheel with no problems. Of course, It doesn't look as good but I'm one of those who get annoyed by scratches on the LCD or plastic cover.

I'm going to leave it there until I get a case for it.

Well I bought the 4GB nano, ultimately ignoring what I said on Page 1. Impressive, impressive piece of kit. The low capacity doesn't become a problem at all given the size and weight.

Went to the Bluewater Apple Store today and they had stock of all but the 4gig black nano. Plenty on the floor to play with though, and I must say they are gorgeous! I have a 40gig iPod, but I still want one; my dad and brother were a little confused about this. Anyway, I got stuff for uni and my bro got a white 4gig nano and we got a pack of iPod socks between us. I swear the nano was designed around the socks (or the socks designed around the nano) because the sock is the perfect size. If the nano was any smaller, it would have fallen out, but it hardly stretches it at all. I reckon the nano's dimensions were primarily designed around the size of an unstretched sock...

The more I read about the nano the more I want one. My mini is fine and I love it to death, but the nano is killer. Hmmm, might have to put my mini up on Craig's list or ebay. WIth some sweet accessories and the active AppleCare warranty I'm sure I could get $150 for it.
