My best advice to you is to shut the *ck up. "it's such a scam, oh man!!!" Well retard you need a computer to use AN IPOD IN THE FIRST PLACE, that's how you put music ON IT. SO OF COURSE YOU WILL BE ABLE TO CHARGE IT. If you plan to be away from your computer for an extended period of time then buy a freaking wall charger. 99% of us will be within range of a computer USB every single day.. So if your the 1% who need an external charger buy one, I'm happy one isn't included so I don't have to eat the cost in other Apple products. It was a smart choice on Apple's part, it saves 99% of consumers money. the .5% that chooses to complain can go buy one, if you can't afford a power adapter than you can't afford to buy an ipod in the first place.

I think it is unbelievable that your ipod can only be charged through a computer without this accessory. What happens if you are on a trip and are away from a computer? You have to spend 50 dollars just to be able to do something you should be able to do anyways? This is unbelievable! I was thinking about buying an ipod but now i'm not so sure because of all the costs of necessities like cases and a power adapter. These things should come free with your ipod. Or at least you should be able to charge the battery normally like you can do with almost every rechargable electronic. I'm really dissapointed in apple.

such hostility, we were just trying to have a discussion here, i thought so anyways. i don't see why A DISCUSSION ABOUT A POWER ADAPTER ON AN ELECTRONIC GADGET makes you want to yell and demean people.

If you have multiple iPods you don't need multiple chargers. I agree it would be nice if it was included, it's cheeky to say the least but as you need a computer to need it it's not that bad.

Apple should have a special deal for A/C + Docks - they should also let you buy headphones without remotes (especially as the nano doesn't have a remote adaptor. I would also like to see the better headphones on the nano lanyard thingy.

Maybe because a discussion wasn't implied by the original poster? The thread title was "the apple money scam"

That's true, but if you look at the thread guidelines, they say to word the title so that people will want to investigate it. He certainly did that!

Well, if you read the rules even closer, you'll notice threads like these are usually banned ;-)
