[quote]Several MacNN Readers report that <a href="http://www.musiccity.com"; target="_blank">MusicCity</a> continues to affirm that it will release a Macinosh version of Morpheus in spring 2002 with emails to users. Morpheus is a free file sharing application that is currently only available for Windows. Users can search the hard drives of other members for Video, Music and executable files.<hr></blockquote>

Sweet. Since Napster went away there has never been a really good filesharing application for Macs or OS X for that matter. Hopefully morpheus will change this.

I tried morpheus via VPC after reading about it in the NYT. The results were disappointing for me. Downloading was really slow, the connection often broke, the codings for the movies were terrible. When I could get a movie to open (in WMP) the resolution was low and the voice was way out of sync with the video. (Maybe this is what passes for quality digital video in the wintel world.) This is still a work in progress. I gave up on it. Your mileage may vary.

Audiogalaxy is much, much cooler and faster for music sharing, in my experience. Some songs are blocked by copyright stuff, somehow, but you can generally find what you want. Morpheus has been really slow for me.

    Hi,

I'm a bit of a newbie at this . Is there a Mac version of audiogalaxy? I'm sure last time I looked it was PC only or am I missing something?

I find the copyrighted material far too great, and you cannot get video content (music videos, DivX, pr0n )

Thanks, I didn't actually know about Sputnix. It seems to work much better and faster for me than the actual Audiogalaxy Satellite for PC.

Sputnix/Audio Galaxy is much better than aquisition in my experiences.

I use Gnapster on Linux for music, I'm sure there is an OpenNap client for Mac OS.

I've mixed luck with Gnutella, but pretty good IMHO.

gnutella sucks ass. i can maybe get 1 out of 20 tries to actually work...

    not worth the trouble...

Aquisition is a GREAT app! While it does have a few bugs right now I almost always find what I want and get a complete download. Lately on Sputnix/Audiogalaxy all I've been getting are Proxy tests and no files.

Aquisition did't download shit, trashed it.

Sputnix couldn't connect to anyone big, when it did connect, they didn't have shit.

MP3Rage didn't download wven tho they files were in progress with status bar.

LimeWire got me all my songs on X.

In 9 Aimster got me all my songs.

The first day I got Aguisition it didn't work well... most songs wouldn't DL. But the next day it flew and was getting songs all over the place... eh good days and bad days on Gnutella I guess.

Right now, all p2p software sucks on osx.

Sputnik is not good for mainstream stuff because a lot of it is blocked, but if you want that rare Stooges cut from 1973, then you will more than likely find it. Recently it is getting busy, hence the new proxty test bullshit a lot of the time. But, how can I complain, I have 5 gigs of great music burnt in MP3 format on CD`s because of it!

Aimster was good in 9 for more mainstream stuff, and I miss it!

Limewire X works, but is the slowest, clunkiest prorgam on an already slow OS.

Apparently Morpheus is good ...... really good .....

Apparently Morpheus 2, the one that will run on the mac, will use the gnutella network as well as the fast track network. probably a good idea to go with the open source network, gnutella, as a hedge against the closed source fast track being shut down or crippled in some way.

Glad you can, because I can't find anything-actually, correction- I can find files (open window in browser and searches the audiogalaxy site) and the songs are all blocked!! What;s the point? Trashed it and back to LimeWire.
