Intel's line is always a bit convoluted anyways. In the context of Apple we really only need look at Yonah/Merom/Conroe/Woodcrest.
Do I think Apple would be interested in larger chips someday? Perhaps. However right now as long as there are no changes in the Pentium/Xeon replacements we're not affected at all.
Maybe this is what Steve Jobs was referring to when he said he likes options. That's a lot of processors to choose from and apparently not a complete list.
The Inquirer makes for fun reading but it's not the most reliable rag. I'm not sure many people on here have said much about Intel's roadmap being predictable. No CPU manf really has a rock solid roadmap.
The Inq may be tabloid-y, but their info on Intel's product plans is usually rock solid. Sure, sometimes longterm roadmaps change (eg, Tejas), and sometimes shipdates slip, but in the short term you can take their info to the bank.
This is a big change for the Apple Rumor Mill, because you'll know exactly when CPUs are coming, and how much they'll cost.
