I use an XTreme 3 and Nivea gel. I replace the cartridge every 4 days and have found it to be better (and cheaper) than the Mach 3. In fact, I hate the Mach 3, mostly because the spring loaded head is no good for those of us who have to shave up.

When it's all done, I use 91% isopropanol as after shave. Like the XTreme 3, it's cheap and effective.

Schick Quattro, replace blade about once a month. I use Edge Pro Ultra Sensitive shave gel and Cetaphil lotion as an after shave.

Okay, I know this will sound ignorant, but what is the use of aftershave again? Other than making your face smell good.

I use it to kill microbes and remove the grease left behind by the shave gel.

I am using Mach3. I find that I have to grow out my stubble fairly long to get a good shave...

I have tried the Mach 3 but I don't like it. I prefer the Sensor 3 blade, it gives me a much better shave than the Mach 3. And I have started using an old style badger brush and Bay Rum shaving soap in a cup. I received it as a gift and I actually like it. I bet that not many people still use that but it's pretty cool. I wish that I could find an electric razor that gave me a decent shave but I have had no luck.

I have had luck with the Braun Synchro electric shavers in the past, but I wear them down in about 9-12 months to the point where the motor is totally shot. Plus, electric shavers are a bitch to clean. I do, though, recommend the Braun shavers over the other brands.

Shick FX with no shaving cream or other accessories, in the shower.

Shaving cream is just a conspiricy to clog up shaving blades - I change my blade once per year or two, the shower head cleans out all the gunk out of the blade quite nicely if you have enough water pressure.

I also cut my own hair with a beard trimmer - saves a lot of time.

I use Mach3 and Gillete shaving cream. A little bit of Miyake as an aftershave goes a long way..

They'll pry my SensorExcel twin blade from my cold dead hands. All those new blades suck because they pivot from the bottom of the cartridge. Whereas the SensorExcel blade pivots from the center. It matter because when you try to apply pressure on the newer blades the blade just rotates out of the way. I end up rotating it to the end of it's travel. With the Sensor you just press in the middle with the pivot you want.

Plus the head of the cartridge is smaller. That way you can get those hard to reach areas, eg between nose and lip.

mach 3 turbo (vibrates) I use ....get this....suave 2 in one condidtioning shampoo. i used to use mineral oil, to reduce the friction, but the 2 in one shampoo works great, it doensn't dry my skin and it stays slick without allowing the blade to skip (squeeky clean means it bumps along the face and ouch cuts) rarely cut myself, very smooth. anything other than gillett has too much friction and thus more cuts. for after shave--i don't need an astringent or something that will dry my skin, i simply use some hand lotion and works wonders on the skin. great during the dry days of winter. the other thing about lotion is that you can get it unscrented, so you don't have this confused multi-smell embarrassment.

I used to swear by the Sensor-Excel until I started using the Xtreme 3. It is built similarly to the Sensor Excel, but has three blades and is better for the day-to-day shave. If I need to get really close, I still whip out the sensor excel, though.

The first two days it becomes duller, after that it stays the same for a year or more - at least as far as I can tell.

When I was young, I planned to use a new blade each day "when I am rich"... Now that I could afford it, it just seems like a bother and a waste.

A lot of it depends on how thick your beard is, and how you shave. If you have a nubile countenance, which is not terribly unusual, then the relative sharpness is not such a big issue.

However, some of us put a hurt on the razor. The blood marks on my face that come from using an "old" razor are good enough for personal vindication on habits of regular razor swapping.

My beard hairs are thick and curly. The once a week replacement of razor blades is absolutely necessary if I don't want to have a bloody shave that results in ingrown hairs...

I use a norelco electric. It does an OK job - not as close as a blade. But if I go for a couple days without shaving, the electric hurts like hell. It feels like it's pulling the hairs out one at a time. So I use a Mach 3.

    Electric.

Although I have difficulty growing facial hair. Just managed to grow one of those "chin-straps" now. Yeah yeah, say what you want. I'm working with what I have.
