I'd say different songs for different moods but I think for me the song that best captures the mood it's trying to represent is

    Sexual Healing by Marvin Gaye.

(to others: Heroin is another song sung by Lou Reed, and a tasty treat for after work specials)

Ruby My Dear by Thelonious Monk. Sometimes you can find a little piece of solace in music.

I couldn't decide one just one song -- so I picked 25. Are they "perfect"? Maybe not, but I think they're pretty damned good.

Thanks to accessTunes, you can go here to listen:

    http://www.shetline.org:8100

Browse to the "AppleInsider Faves" playlist to find the music below. The music will be streamed from my home computer, with a max upload rate of 768 kbps, so it won't take much simultaneous access to slow down playback to below real time. I'd recommend using "your browser" option over the "external player" option, which buffers each song completely (takes a minute or two) before playback starts.

APB - Shoot you down They just reissued APB's Something to Believe In cd which has been out of print forever. I actually had the original on vynyl and it's one of the few records I'd crank up the turntable to put on. I don't think they were very popular, but they were very popular in New York and New Jersey. Not bad for a band from Aberdeen Scotland.
