what? photoshop is incredibly powerful right out of the box. i don't know exactly what you're talking about. for those of us who learned photoshop back in the early versions, the current version of photoshop is incredible compared to back then. i can get nearly any effect in photoshop just from an oem install.
Actually I undersold PS a bit in my post. It does indeed have a decent set of tools but there are plugins that exceed the capability of PS standard tools.

What plug-in's do you use? I find Photoshop exceedingly capable by itself
As an aside, IF Apple released their own Photoshop program, what sorts of stuff would need to be in it for you all to consider buying it?
You grizzled PS vets! I knew I'd have a fight. Well I won't fight that long because I haven't used the most recent incarnations of PS. But I remember how masking with Mask Pro was much easier than PS native tools. I also like some of the NIK sharpeners but honestly I do know that masking has improved in the native tools and sharpening is probably more than adequate. I'm looking forward to getting CS3 when it comes out in UB format. So I'll focus a bit on native tools and see what I find.

I'm into photography, not design, so I don't care for all the non-photo related stuff. Designers, of course, do. So if Apple makes a true PS competitor, it will have to (I think) have *all* those features.
If Aperture just had the selection tools from LightZone (note: LightZone is not Lightroom) so I could burn & dodge photographs--and some text editing--that would cover 99% of my needs.
I don't do those wacky filters and such on my photographs. I don't use CMYK.
