I think it would be okay for webdesign due to the lower resolution of the files. For what I was doing it was unworkable because I have to have something that's very reliable.

I took back the macbook and bought the last Powerbook G4. I know someone is suggesting more RAM but at over 2800 I think it should run pretty good out of the box!

My eMac opens Illustrator files faster than the MacBook Pro!

Looks like the huge complexity of the files you are working on is causing crashes despite having 1GB RAM cpenzone.

Yeah, certainly PowerBooks 1.5ghz or 1.67ghz, whether eBay or via "old stock" at Apple dealers, is the way to go for you until Adobe CS3 comes out.

You'll get more bang-for-your-buck anyway picking up a PowerBook now, as opposed to a MacBook or MacBook Pro.

    SideNote:

Yes, for web design it is looking like Rosetta is workable though.... Still even for web design I would definitely say a PowerBook 1.5ghz or 1.67ghz will offer more bang-for-buck at this stage. 2nd hand with warranty would be great, and then once CS3 is on the market for a few months, then move up to by then a nice Merom-based MacBook/ MacBook Pro.
